Jin Soon Goes Public With Private Pedis

Between all the gifting, drinking, and hostess-ing that surrounds the holidays, there’s little time left over to keep up your beauty routine. That said, any service involving the words “private,” “pampering,” and “at home” has a certain ring to it this time of the year. Joining the ranks of facialists like Gucci Westman-approved Georgia Louise, who makes house calls, master nail artist Jin Soon Choi has been quietly dispatching her expert aestheticians to clients’ apartments up and down the isle of Manhattan. The service is actually reminiscent of Choi’s early days as a freelance manicurist, when she would ride her 10-speed bicycle to meet clients for private visits, a pastime that earned her the nickname “Bicycle Jin”—true story! These days, it’s more likely a member from her pro team that will arrive at your door equipped with all the necessary buffing, soaking, and smoothing tools needed to perform the Steven Meisel favorite’s signature spa mani/pedi in your living room. As for polish, “You can request a certain shade or a range of colors for us to bring. We can also work with the polishes you have at home,” says Choi. While the service has been mostly known through word of mouth up until now, Choi plans to make it official and list it on her spa menu in the coming months. Appointments can be booked Monday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but there may be some flexibility for regulars, hints Choi, just in case you need an excuse to make this a weekly indulgence.
