S.W. Basics Strikes Oil
Sprout Skincare has come a long way since we first discovered it last summer. The Brooklyn-based company, bred from founder and certified nutritionist Adina Grigore’s own struggles with sensitive skin, has changed its name to S.W. Basics—”[Sprout] just doesn’t feel like it fits our line anymore,” Grigore explained via blog post this Fall—and become kind of a big deal in the process: S.W. Basics is now distributed at specialty retailers across the country, not to mention Anthropologie, and was one of ten brands from Kings County to get the pop-up treatment at a Brooklyn beauty-themed shop-in-shop at Colette last October. This month, the company has added a new item to its original seven-piece lineup, none of which contains more than five ingredients, all of which are organic, fair trade, and locally sourced when possible. Grigore has begun exploring the challenging world of body oil and, true to form, she has made it decidedly less complicated. Her soothing elixirs come in clove-scented and unscented varieties and each boast—count them—three simple ingredients: organic grapeseed, avocado and sesame oils. Mini one-ounce bottles are available now and a full-sized, eight-ounce version will debut on February 1.
