Bowie And Moss: A Musician-Model Mash-Up for The Ages

David Bowie is something of a shape-shifter; you’d be hard-pressed to find someone else who can so easily slip into a wealth of different social constructs through carefully calculated styling, hair, and makeup. Except maybe Kate Moss. The super-est of them all remains so undeniably super because, two decades on, she can still morph into all manner of model while still remaining undeniably Kate. It should perhaps come as no surprise, then, that Moss has morphed into Bowie on more than one occasion. There was her Aladdin Sane moment on the cover of Vogue U.K.’s May 2003 issue, and then the Paris Vogue Ziggy Stardust homage that left the fashion world speechless in 2011. Less referenced, however, is the Ellen von Unwerth-lensed Q magazine Bowie/Moss photo shoot that actually placed the two icons in front of the camera together—a universe-shaking moment that will hopefully be reprised in the near future, as neither appears to be slowing down anytime soon.
