Kevyn Aucoin Beauty’s Blood-Rose-Colored Glasses

Everyone has a nail-polish range these days. What was once a specialty market in a sea of cosmetics has become an essential line extension, not just for beauty companies but fashion companies as well (Kate Spade, Eres, and American Apparel are just a few clothing brands that have capitalized on the past three years of collective lacquer love). But Kevyn Aucoin Beauty has remained curiously polish-free, even as nail hysteria effectively sank in, and while the late makeup genius’ namesake range finally joins the varnish game this month, it includes just a single limited-edition product, in a refreshing change of pace. Introducing: Kevyn Aucoin The Nail Lacquer in Blood Roses. Inspired by the face painter’s favorite color, the sleek glass bottle encases a creamy deep berry plum polish with a black base. No kitschy texturizers, stickers, or 3-D appliqués here; just pure, beautiful—dare we say, timeless—nail color. Even in an increasingly saturated market, there’s surprisingly not enough of that to go around these days.
