Lena Dunham Makes History, Nails A Classic Manicure
In case you somehow missed it—you know, because it wasn’t televised and the number of high-powered celebrities in attendance paled in comparison to the SAGs or the Globes—the Directors Guild of America held its annual awards ceremony this weekend in L.A. In attendance were the usual suspects: Ang Lee, Steven Spielberg, et al, as well as some newcomers, like Ben Affleck, who won the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film Award for Argo, and Lena Dunham, who continued her awards-show sweep by becoming the first female director to win for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Comedy Series for Girls. “I’m terrified every time I step on set,” effused a beaming Dunham when she accepted her award, although she admitted that she’s getting more and more self-assured in that regard—and on the red carpet as well, it would appear. The multitalented twenty-six-year-old was wearing a custom color-blocked Thakoon dress and a demure red manicure. A self-professed fan of nail art, Dunham’s beauty look seems to be evolving—nay, maturing—as her stock continues to rise. Nothing wrong with keeping it classic. Thoughts on Dunham’s latest dose of lacquer love?
