Mélanie Laurent: Berlin Beauty

Since starring in Quentin Tarantino’s 2009 film Inglourious Basterds, and nabbing a Dior fragrance contract in the process, Mélanie Laurent has continued to impress us with her easy approach to red-carpet beauty. A lipstick lover after our own hearts, the French actress has a range that covers everything from classic updos and glamorous blow-outs to simple topknots—and even the occasional porkpie hat. At a photo call yesterday at the sixty-third Berlinale International Film Festival for her new movie, Night Train to Lisbon, Laurent pulled out another doozy, in the form of a soft side braid that swept across her hairline, thus showcasing her ombré blonde locks in the process. You don’t see that on the premiere circuit every day. Thoughts on the look?

I really appreciate it when someone has a more minimalist approach. I love the slightly disheveled hair and subtle eyeshadow. my favourite thing about the look has got to be the lipstick. I would love to know which lipstick she’s wearing as I have roughly the same skin colouring and hair colour + ombré highlights, as well as blue eyes. so she’s someone I could use as a model for what works in terms of eyeshadow and lipstick shades.
