The 411: Charlotte Knight of Ciaté
Nail-polish disciples owe the U.K. a certain debt of gratitude, as the city has birthed some of the most progressive brands around—Rococo, Butter, Illamasqua, and Nails Inc. among them. But if there is one London label that has singlehandedly changed how we think about texture, it’s Ciaté. The name is an acronym for Color, Innovation, Aspiration, Trend, and Extraordinary, and is the brainchild of super-savvy founder and creative director Charlotte Knight. Born in London, Knight moved to Ireland in her twenties, where, despite having no formal nail training, she would open a widely successful chain of nail bars before taking her expertise back to her home city. The creator of the caviar manicure seen on many a fashionable fingertip (Rihanna et al), Knight has introduced the eager beauty masses to the world of 3-D DIY nail art, sequins, and even velvet tips. Here, just in time for LFW, we asked Knight to share some of her hometown primping favorites.
The Preferred Polish: Ciaté
“My favorite launch to date is our Caviar Manicure, as we really pushed the boundaries of nail art to create this finish. Now the challenge is to keep exploring new textures and finishes, so we keep our authority as nail innovators.”

The Face Place: Sarah Chapman
“I absolutely love Sarah Chapman’s amazing facials. I have to travel so much for Ciaté, and my skin can get really dehydrated. The great thing about Sarah Chapman is that she creates bespoke facials for all her clients, and I always leave her Chelsea salon feeling detoxed and glowing.”

The Nail Know-It-All: David Barton
“My other favorite thing about Percy & Reed is David Barton. David is one of the best nail technicians in the industry, and it’s always been important for me to have manicured nails. No matter what I’m wearing, if my nails are done, I feel stylish and confident. Nails are my favorite fashion accessory!”
