The 411: Vanessa Bruno-------
Many a style page has been devoted to the dissection and exultation of that certain breed of laid-back, graceful dressing most often associated with French women. Their ability to look polished but breezy, put-together but never rigid, is a tough balance to strike, but it’s that precise form of insouciant chic that designer Vanessa Bruno has become known for—and that she continues to pioneer with every collection she presents. For the past decade or so, Bruno’s devoted fans wait with bated breath for the Paris-based designer’s shows to witness her take on down-to-earth fashion that references everything from seventies bohemia and her elegant Danish mother to traditional menswear suiting—all of which are likely to be on display at her presentation on Friday. In the interim, we’re content to mine a list of her favorite local beauty haunts—and one SoCal standby.
The Skincare Wizard: Hervé Hérau
“This man is a magician! He analyzes the skin of each person and makes a diagnostic in reference to your feeling and well-being of the moment. I see him once per month, at home, and that’s a luxury.”

The Exercise Routine
“I do Pilates a minimum of twice a week, when I find time, of course. Sport is an important part of my daily life, as I bike every day to go to work, so I really can’t imagine living without it.”
The Muscle Relaxer: Les Bains du Marais
“This place is the best for me, as the masseur always has a lot of strength—strength is very important for me, because I am like a rock! I also found a wonderful masseur in New York, named Jamie, at the La Prairie Spa at the Ritz hotel.”

The Dye Do: Alain Silvani “My hair is a big deal. Once a month, my colorist and friend Alain Silvani takes care of it. My baby-blonde hair needs special treatment. I usually use Wella products afterward to maintain the color.”For more information, visit www.alainsilvani.com.
.The Respite from Run-down: After the Rain
“When I am overstressed, and yes, it happens, I disappear and go to this marvelous spa, After the Rain. The place is very peaceful, and the swimming pool is perfect for the athlete I am. A little bit of hammam, a delicate essential-oil massage, and I am all set for work!”

.The Tipping Point: Chi in Los Angeles
“When I come to Los Angeles to visit my shop there, I love to go to Chi Nail Bar & Organic Spa for a mani-pedi. They have a lot of VIPs—I have the same manicurist as Puff Daddy! I like beautiful red vermilion or dark burgundy, or all the Essie natural pink shades.”

The Beauty Booty: Printemps
“I love to go to the Printemps de la beauté for my beauty shopping. My favorite brands are Sisley, Chanel for the skin and foundation, and Clarins—I like their Multi Eclat Powder and the Eclat Minute Embellisseur. One of my special beauty secrets is that I blend Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream with essential oils, and I use it on my lips as a gloss!”

The Signature Scents: European Favorites
“For my perfume, I go to Diptyque—the essence I love is Eau de Lierre, and my body cream is Iris Nobile from Acqua di Parma. Also, I buy a lot of candles that I like to light every time I come home, as my relaxing gesture—the scents I like are Diptyque Feu de Bois and Cire Trudon’s Pondichéry.”
