Drugstore Discovery of the Week: Motions Shoots It Straight
Ever since Marie Robinson stylist Allison Woodruff introduced us to the brand four years ago, Motions styling products have become frequent members of the revolving cast of characters that turn up in our haircare arsenal. The sleek gold bottles, which can often be found in the “ethnic” aisle of most drugstores, actually work wonders on a number of different textures, aiding in the creation of curls, waves, and now straight styles as well. The brand’s new Straight Finish system is designed to counter the side effects of hot tools, with plant oils and keratin protein that prep, protect, and seal strands that have been battered by constant blow-dry and iron abuse. The three-piece collection includes a structured liquid Cleanser, which uses shea butter and soy bean oil to moisturize as it removes dirt and grime; a Leave-In Conditioner boosted with Argan and coconut oils to detangle and hydrate; and our favorite of the bunch, a Sealer with Argan and almond oils that you can apply to wet or dry hair to smooth the cuticle and reduce frizz. At a mere $6.99 each, they’re an easy Spring splurge.
