Estancia Vinotherapy

Long touted for its antioxidant properties, a good glass of red wine has always held its appeal. Now the Spa by La Prairie at the recently renovated Hotel Bel-Air is getting in on the game, by partnering with Estancia Wines on the launch of exclusive vinotherapy treatments, customized using the winery’s California-raised grapes. “Many people do not know about wine’s lesser-known benefits,” explains Helen Storer, Hotel Bel-Air’s director of spa sales and operations. “With Estancia Vinotherapy treatments, the essence of the grape, containing powerful antioxidants to help restore collagen, comes through, and the result is healthier, happier skin.” Available only at the Bel-Air location, the four treatments offer something for even the most discerning oenophile. A sixty-minute Vinomassage ($190) utilizes pure grape-seed oil (and is appropriately accompanied by a glass of Pinot Noir); the sixty-minute Pinot Noir Vinobright Facial ($225) pairs a collagen Estancia grape-seed mask and grape-seed scrub with La Prairie White Caviar Illuminating Cream; and the ninety-minute Crushed Cabernet Sauvignon Treatment ($275) relies on crushed Cabernet grape seeds, blackberry fibers, red wine, and La Prairie’s Cellular Energizing Body line. For those who can’t experience the new treatments—and that promised antioxidant-induced glow—in person, the spa has shared recipes so you can create your own at home (see below).

At-home recipes:

Estancia Monterey County Pinot Noir Vino Lift Facial Mask

Mix together a few simple ingredients to create an all-natural red-wine face mask—the egg white and Pinot Noir will tighten your skin, and combined they create a powerful antiaging force. Honey is the perfect natural humectant: It attracts moisture and keeps it locked under your skin. It will also smooth the skin’s texture.

Ingredients:
1 egg white
3 Tbsp. Estancia Monterey County Pinot Noir
1 Tbsp. organic raw honey

Instructions:
Gently mix the egg white, Estancia Monterey County Pinot Noir, and honey until smooth. Spread the paste evenly on a clean face and neck, avoiding the eye area.
Relax and leave the mask on for ten to fifteen minutes. You may place cucumber slices over your eyes for added benefit to the eye area. Try to meditate or clear your mind.

Rinse off with lukewarm water, and end with a splash of cold. Pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Finally, apply a moisturizer, such as La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Cream, for added tightening and to seal in all of that moisture.

Estancia Monterey County Chardonnay Glow Mask
The natural ingredients in this mask will clear congestion and smooth your skin, leaving you with a radiant glow and silky texture.

Ingredients:
1 Tbsp. oatmeal
1 Tbsp. Estancia Monterey County Chardonnay
2 Tbsp. plain yogurt, with active cultures
Mix all ingredients together to form a smooth paste. Spread the paste evenly on a clean face and neck, avoiding the eye area.

Estancia Vino Tea Antiaging Facial Mask
Full of antioxidants, green tea is great booster to add to Estancia Monterey County Pinot Noir, creating a youthful and radiant glow for the skin. The honey and yogurt are both soothing and hydrating ingredients to calm inflamed skin.

Ingredients:
1 green tea teabag / 1 Tbsp. green tea leaves
1 Tbsp. Estancia Monterey County Pinot Noir
1 Tbsp. plain yogurt, with active cultures
2 Tbsp. organic raw honey

Instructions:
Make a cup of green tea. Warm up the honey until it becomes runny (but not too hot) by putting it in a small glass or bowl immersed in hot water (or place in the microwave for a few seconds.) Mix the tea with the Estancia Monterey County Pinot Noir, yogurt, and honey until smooth.

Spread the paste evenly on a clean face and neck, avoiding the eye area.

Estancia Monterey County Pinot Noir Bath & Body Scrub
The sugar in this recipe gently exfoliates, and honey moisturizes and soothes dry skin.

Ingredients:
5 Tbsp. raw sugar
5 Tbsp. brown sugar
3 to 4 Tbsp. organic raw honey
2 Tbsp. Estancia Monterey County Pinot Noir

Instructions:
Mix all ingredients together and apply immediately all over body before or during a bath or shower. Finish with a body emulsion, such as La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Body Cream, to seal in moisture.
