Bite Beauty: Where Two Worlds Collide
As far as I’m concerned, women fall into two distinct camps: those that prefer gloss, and those that opt for lipstick. I myself am a lipstick girl—the slippery texture and hair-to-mouth situation every time the wind blew never appealed to me. I’ve tried liquid lipsticks that claim to provide the rich color of a classic bullet, but go on like a gloss. For the most part, I find them drying and lacking the creamy finish I so crave. But Bite Beauty may have successfully found a way to bridge the gap between gloss addicts and lipstick lovers with their Cashmere Lip Cream. The new cream-to-powder color goes on via a doe-foot applicator (like your typical gloss), but the formula is much thicker (like a melted-down lipstick) and contains four times the pigment load found in the average lip product. The blend of butters, moisturizing sunflower wax, plant-based silicone oils, and Japanese silica powder produce a nonsticky, slightly shiny finish that stays put without feeling tight. My only complaint: Because the product is more dense, the skinny applicator can be a bit tricky if you’re used to the swipe-and-go method associated with a mistake-proof, sheer gloss or an easy-to-wield lipstick. However, with practice (or a lip brush), perfection can quickly be achieved. It seems that the dividing line between the two beauty classes is finally being blurred—and replaced by the best of both worlds in a single tube.
