A Sight for Sore Eyes

-------

Absolue L'Extrait Yeux - cropAdding another step to one’s skincare routine isn’t the most tempting prospect. With cleansers, scrubs, toners, serums, moisturizers, and peels, it can be difficult to feel anything resembling “low maintenance.” So forgive me if, when presented with eye masks (not shown), cream, and a rose gold-tipped wand, I was a bit skeptical.

Lancôme’s Absolue L’Extrait Ultimate Eye Contour Collection marries the aforementioned masks with the Ultimate Rejuvenating Balm-Elixir, a dynamic duo that promises to smooth, plump, and firm fine lines in six weeks. The Balm-Elixir is formulated using native cells from the beauty brand’s signature rose—and lots of them. Up to two million of these cells go into each jar of thick, velvety cream, which sinks in speedily but is rich enough to combat dry, crepey skin under eyes. Applying the formula five minutes pre-concealer in the morning left me with a smooth, even canvas for makeup, and no cakey buildup. The accompanying “massaging eye petal” applicator—on top of being inarguably attractive—boasts a rolling, faceted head that cools and banishes puffiness.

The included eye masks (six sets) are the icing on a highly effective cake. Made from bio cellulose, these pillowy pads are best used on top of the Balm-Elixir once a week. Just ten minutes of use left my allergy-sunken under-eye skin looking plumped and noticeably brighter.

Together? It’s a one-two punch that, yes, warrants just one more step.
