Beauty 411: Aliza Jabès Of Nuxe
The cult of French pharmacy skincare product devotees is already vast and continually growing its ranks, thanks to the pioneering ways of many a makeup artist, model, and editor singing the products’ praises back home. Thus, items like Créaline cleanser, the watery wonder that removes all traces of makeup; Avibon, a.k.a. Retin-A light; and the dense, intensely hydrating Embryolisse Miracle Cream have gained favor far beyond their French birthplace. And chief among the favorite pharmacy exports, Nuxe’s Huile Prodigieuse, a dry oil with a multitude of purposes: part face moisturizer, part hair smoother, part body glow inducer. Though Nuxe, the two-decade-old natural skincare line founded by Aliza Jabès in the early nineties, has plenty more goodness for beauty Francophiles to appreciate, the oil remains the hero. Here, the woman who dreamed up Nuxe shares some of her own beauty favorites just in time for Paris fashion week.
THE MANI MECCA: OPI Nail Bar
“I always go to the OPI Nail Bar in the famous and so chic French department store Le Bon Marché. They are the best. I love Here Today…Aragon Tomorrow for my pedicure, and Essie Mademoiselle or Chanel beige 515 for my manicure.”

THE MASSAGE: Spa Nuxe
“When I need to feel deeply relaxed, body and mind, I go for a Watsu session in the pool of our Spa Nuxe. It’s a unique experience based on the therapeutic properties of hot water and Shiatsu massage, all while [submerged]. And the luxurious spa, located in the historic center of Paris, is the ideal place to escape after a busy day.”

THE GROCERY SPOT: Naturalia
“I’ve always preferred a diet filled with fruits, vegetables, cereals, and seeds, so my favorite place to shop is Naturalia. I love to [peruse] their large selection of organic products.”

THE COIFF PRESERVER: Leonor Greyl
“I like going to the Leonor Greyl Institute for their personalized and tailor-made treatments like the Hair Spa. They use natural formulas and relaxing techniques that help restore natural beauty and health to my hair in just one hour.”

THE DE-STRESS DESTINATION: Corsica
“When I travel for pleasure, I often choose a spa vacation to ensure my holiday is 100 percent Zen. I’m particularly fond of the south of Corsica—it’s wild and precious with breathtaking landscapes, and the local people have a true generosity. My favorite spot is the Hotel Don Cesar in Porto Vecchio. The magical green setting is perfect, and I can enjoy nature and complete serenity.”

THE FITNESS REGIMEN: Jogging
“It helps me de-stress and it’s the easiest sport to practice when you constantly travel like I do. I just need my running shoes and a light outfit and I’m off. Running also always allows me to discover each city in an original way.”
THE SKINCARE MUSTS
“I have a deep connection to my first product, Huile Prodigieuse. I call it my cosmetics baby. This oil makes everything better, from hair to toes—it is my desert island product. For the face I put some drops in my daily cream to nourish and protect my skin, then on the body I apply it in circular movements to hydrate. After washing my hair I put some drops in my conditioner, then leave it on for ten minutes for a soft and shiny finish. I also use Nuxellence Jeunesse, an innovative antiaging creation that helps maintain a daily radiance.”

THE MAKEUP ROUTINE
“I like makeup to be chic but natural. The best foundation is from By Terry; it really provides even coverage and the most perfect finish. For lips, I love By Terry Terrybly in Hot Cranberry, and for my eyes I create a smoky eye look with By Terry Terrybly Brown Stellar liner and the new Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes Mascara.”
THE HAIR LINE OF CHOICE: Davines
“Davines has been my favorite product line for a long time. I follow their philosophy—it’s not only respectful to the environment but effective for my hair.”
