The Beauty Doctor Will See You Now
All those on the fashion campaign trail through New York, London, Milan, and Paris (i.e., makeup artists, hairstylists, models, editors, and photographers) inevitably end up catching some sort of illness at some point during the course of the month. Whether it’s the constant travel, diet consisting of espresso and PowerBars, or the late night/early morning schedule, staying on top of your game is a challenge, to say the least. I caught up with Pat McGrath, who has certainly earned her PhD in maquillage, backstage at Gucci, and snagged her (health) trick of the trade: Covonia Throat Spray, a numbing and infection fighting-formula available at Boots in the U.K. In addition to the standard dose of hot water with lemon and honey, 2000 milligrams of vitamin C, and carrot and ginger juice, she was able to regain her voice after losing it for three days following the shows in Manhattan. “It’s the first time ever I haven’t used antibiotics,” she divulged. McGrath certainly has no shortage of makeup tips, but this is one secret I’ll be keeping in the bank for next season.
