Reminiscing With…Makeup Artist Kayleen McAdams
Beauty Nostalgia is a column on Beauty Counter in which we ask influencers, tastemakers, and some of our favorite industry experts to wax poetic on the sticks, salves, and sprays that helped shape who they are today.
The Pro: Global makeup artist for CK One Color Kayleen McAdams
The Product: “CK One takes me back to early high school, when everyone was wearing it—girls and guys. The smell reminds me of being young. I can’t put words to the notes, but it was what I thought a cool, New York loft would smell like; it was artsy. I grew up in a town that was two hours outside of Toronto and, at this time, I was actually working at McDonald’s. It was very glamorous. I worked there for six years. In fact, I ended up being a manager! My brother worked there and so did my sister Rachel [the actress who has starred in films like The Notebook, Midnight in Paris, and The Vow]—she was pretty good with the juice machine. But I still have the memory of the scent of CK One…mixed with french fries.”
