Make BeautyMake, a young beauty brand with roots in philanthropy (33.3 percent of sales from its site are donated to We See Beauty Foundation, a non-profit that funds women-led cooperatives in the U.S.), debuted its latest partnership today between photographer and filmmaker Erik Madigan Heck and makeup artist Sam Addington. Inspired by the likes of Degas and Monet, Heck created a series of images, titled “Post-Impression”, that sheds new light (and shades) on New York’s Hudson Valley by heating and cooling Polaroid 59 film during its development. The end result: rich, saturated colors and hauntingly beautiful landscapes (seen above). “My work subtly attempts to erase the technological time stamp from photography through exploring and abstracting its historical relationship to painting,” he said. While this isn’t the first collaboration for the young artist—who at 29 has already earned the International Center of Photography’s Infinity Award, not to mention worked with the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Ballet, and designers such as Dries Van Noten, Valentino, Mary Kantrantzou, and Rodarte—it is perhaps the most accessible. The products range in price from $22 for a lip liner to $40 for a palette of matte eye shadows and lipsticks (shown at top). The marine blue, forest green, acid yellow, plum, and burnt orange tones that comprise the collection no doubt lend themselves to some serious face painting, which is right on par with the looks we saw for Spring 2014 at shows like Prada, Céline, and Chanel.
