Pat McGrath’s Crowning Achievement
Backstage isn’t the only place Pat McGrath reigns—the British makeup artist received an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for her services to the fashion and beauty industry from the Queen as part of her New Year’s honors list. McGrath’s “artistry and inventiveness,” according to BBC News, not only caught the attention of editors—those graffitied lids at Prada and brocade brows at Christian Dior this past season apparently impressed Elizabeth II as well. Looks like The New Yorker was onto something when the mag named her the most powerful black woman in fashion a decade ago. It appears the powers that be on both sides of the pond are finally on the same page.
