A Compelling Case for Frosted Lips

There was hardly a mouth moment to be found for Fall 2014 (according to makeup guru Pat McGrath, the eyes have it), but the lips laden with glitter at Rodarte left every beauty editor talking. Face painter James Kaliardos mixed mauve- and berry-colored bullets from NARS with a heavy dose of sparkle to create two bespoke shades for the catwalk. “I hope they actually make this,” he said backstage of his flashy formula. And it appears that Lipstick Queen was listening. To get the look straight off the shelf, try the brand’s Limited Edition Lipstick in Let Them Eat Cake. The lilac pigment laced with rose-gold shimmer is universally flattering and lends a metallic finish that mimics the one seen on the runway. Even better: No need to sip your meals through a straw to avoid ingesting glitter—the finely milled sparkle provides a futuristic frosty effect that doesn’t flake off.
