The fifth annual DVF Awards brought out beauty looks far edgier than a wrap dress. Alicia Keys appears to have added a few inches to her faux-hawk (and strangely enough, we’re into this modified mullet that is reminiscent of Rufio in Hook, the classic nineties adaptation of Peter Pan). The real standout, however, was Estelle’s extensive mehndi tattoo. The exotic floral pattern started on the tops of her fingers and ascended all the way up to her shoulders. Now that’s what we call an arm party.
Beyoncé has been pretty loyal to a single hairstyle of late, that being a heavy bangs-and-topknot combo that she brought with her to Miami Art Basel this weekend. [Glamour]
Since Drybar’s epic cross-country journey two years ago, the West Coast beauty chain-on-the-East Coast model is catching on. Next up is The Pretty Kitty, the well-loved California waxing salon that will open in Montclair, New Jersey, this month. [WWD]
InStyle U.K. was one of the, er, lucky publications to join Rihanna on her 777 tour, and the magazine is telling all about the glam squad that was along for the ride—including a hairstylist, masseuse, and personal chef. That body and those myriad coifs don’t just happen, it turns out. [Daily Mail]
The Alicia Keys watchers out there who were surprised to see the R&B goddess’ recent short haircut should prepare themselves for some more world-rocking: Keys has revealed that she plans on going shorter. “I’m thinking about something like that,” she reportedly said when asked if she’d ever shave her head. “I’m telling you. I’m going there. I’m doing it.” [Huff Po]
If there were any doubts about whether Alicia Keys was ready to return to her adventurous beauty habits after giving birth to a baby boy just two months ago, they were laid to rest last night when the R&B superstar turned up to the Cinema Society screening of Biutiful in New York. The songstress chose a very ambitious pompadour-cum-mohawk for the Miuccia Prada-hosted occasion, managing to retain a certain softness to her coif. Most impressive was the way in which she was able to pull off the challenging style with complete and total ease. Jealous. What do you think of her gravity-defying ‘do?
