Whether it’s a function of working in the beauty industry for upward of ten years or a genetic predisposition that has blessed us with an acute sense of smell, we put a lot of thought into the aroma of every single personal-care product we have in our apartment. From the delicate scents that lace our face creams and foundation to the shampoos, conditioners, and even the detergents we use, scent is an extremely important part of our daily life—which is how we discovered Caldrea. The aromatherapeutic home-keeping brand that boasts countertop sprays, fabric softeners, dryer sheets, et al. prides itself on using a combination of natural essential oils from flowers and herbs to scent its formulas, which never include parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde, ammonia, chlorine bleach, phosphates, or petroleum distillates. The dish soap in Mandarin Vetiver was our gateway product, which evolved into a fixation with the All-Purpose Cleaner in Palmarosa Wild Mint. The duo made our weekly Saturday cleaning ritual an entirely pleasurable experience—and begged the question: Why didn’t Caldrea have eaux de toilette and the like that we could use to douse ourselves in the same well-conceived fragrances? We weren’t the only ones asking, apparently. This week marks the launch of the brand’s aromatherapeutic body-care collection, which includes body washes, bar soaps, body lotions, body crèmes, body oils, and rollerball perfumes in three unique scent combinations: The floral Aloe Water Apricot boasts hints of bergamot, aqua lotus, peony, geranium, and rosemary; the sweet and warm Coconut Fig Leaf blends white fig, plum, violet, sandalwood, and clove; and our personal favorite, Tea Olive Lime, is a green scent with hints of mandarin, orchid, lime blossom, and sandalwood that literally smells like a breath offresh air. Here’s to hoping they turn their attention to haircare next.
