Carmen Kass Goes From Long To Short To Red
With Paris fashion week definitively wrapped up, we can safely say that the final chapter of the shows’ hair color chronicles has been written. Its heroine? Carmen Kass, in our humble opinion. Effectively upstaging the platinum blond and midnight black crops at Balenciaga, Natasha Poly’s newfound brunette ambitions, and the pink and purple streaks spotted at Giambattista Valli and Hakaan, respectively, Kass even outdid her own very prominent placement on this blog (after Sam McKnight gave her a wispy cut backstage at Balmain). How? With the outrageously auburn tresses she sported this morning at Louis Vuitton. As was the case at Balenciaga, Guido Palau can be credited for the dye job, which was done specifically for the show, but which Kass is reportedly thinking about keeping for a while longer. Thoughts on the new color?
The “Carmen” Debuts At Balmain
A Daria sighting on the catwalk paired with a slew of other soon-to-be supers (Freja, Kasia, Anja) in studded leather jackets was enough to grab our attention at the Balmain show this morning. But it was Carmen Kass’ rare runway appearance that really caused us to commence ogling. There was Kass, in all of her statuesque Estonian glory, sporting a new choppy crop! Whoever could have helmed such an amazing, transformational cut on the typically long-haired Kass—the image of whose cornsilk blond, braided strands in that iconic Narciso Rodriguez for Her fragrance ad circa 2007 will forever be burned into our brain? Hairstylist Sam McKnight, of course, the man who gave us the “Aggy” and many other memorable moments in hair. Kass apparently lopped off her locks over the summer, according to her agent, but the wispy cut and fringe she debuted this morning came via a pre-show shearing courtesy of McKnight. Love it.
