The Two-Second Summer Beauty Move You Should Try

While spring was all about a Lorde-like lip—from the singer’s purply-black MAC bullet to subtler wine shades on the red carpet—we’re happy to report that girly pink pouts are still making a statement. At last night’s annual Coach party on the High Line, Chloë Grace Moretz and Chloë Sevigny proved just how fresh and flattering the hue can be. Moretz chose a pearly pastel shade (similar to Ilia’s Hold Me Now), while Sevigny perked up her houndstooth frock with an opaque Pepto. If you want to pack even more of a punch à la Keri Russell (below), we suggest Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick in Fever. Pull off the look with a few swipes of mascara, dewy skin, and messy hair. Consider your summer beauty routine perfected—in one minute or less.

At last night’s Carrie premiere in Los Angeles, Chloë Grace Moretz put her own spin on the effortless plait swung over one shoulder that we saw just a few weeks ago on the runway at Giles. Instead of a single, mussed-up braid, Moretz wove three smaller twists into the finished product and tied it off with black lace (a similar finishing touch was employed by Guido Palau at Nina Ricci). The end result definitely set the 16-year-old apart on the red carpet, but in a way that would draw a throng of admirers and score her a date to the prom with the class hunk—minus a blood shower on her Valentino gown.

Sweet (And Sophisticated) Sixteen

Chloe Grace Moretz
At just 16, the star of the soon-to-be-released Kick-Ass 2, Chloë Grace Moretz, is, well, kicking ass and taking names when it comes to making red-carpet appearances. Swapping the cropped purple wig she dons as Hit-Girl in the comic-book-based film for effortless auburn waves at today’s photo call in London, Moretz’s natural hair and makeup are reminiscent of the deconstructed curls and barely-there maquillage seen this past season at shows like Isabel Marant and Jill Stuart. While she told Glamour.com in a recent interview that she isn’t afraid to take a fashion risk (demonstrated by the skinny Savile Row-inspired suit and crisp button-up worn here), she’s still trying to figure out what flatters her as far as cosmetics are concerned. “I’ve seen so many disastrous things!” she says of makeup looks gone wrong. In this instance, we think this on-screen assassin has done a bang-up job of less-is-more.
