All right, style tribe members: The show has begun. With fashion month officially under way and no rest in sight until early March, the time for prep work to get your head and body in gear has passed. But there are a few expert tips that should help make facing each day a little easier. Just ask Salma Hayek. “I’m never without my black Saint Laurent blazer, a good pair of black jeans, or Gucci walking boots with small high heels, which are essential for traveling,” says the front-row regular who plans to be very present at Christopher Kane and Gucci this season. Also important to Hayek’s jet-set lifestyle? Juicing. After becoming addicted to Juice Generation, the actress/mother/director cofounded Cooler Cleanse in 2008, a juicing company that delivers bottled juices to your home in fresh, chilled packs. “I do my [juice] cleanse for a day or two, sometimes even three days, depending on the level of the damage I have done,” Hayek jokes, alluding to her hectic schedule that includes constant back-and-forth between film and fashion sets. “Cleansing is like a meditation. It makes me stop, focus, and think about what I’m putting into my body,” she adds. As meditative focus becomes harder and harder to attain over the next few weeks, Hayek shares the recipe for her essential green juice, right here, right now. “It’s a great way to start your day, and is full of vitamins—plus it’s great for your skin,” she says. Street-style superstardom, here we come.
Essential Green Juice
Handful of spinach
3 stalks of celery
Small handful of parsley
3 leaves of green kale
2 Bartlett pears, seeded
1/4 lemon, peeled
1/2 cucumber, peeled
Bunch up the spinach, parsley, and kale and push through juicer with the celery and pear. Follow with the cucumber and lemon. Scrape off the foam and serve over ice. For variation, add dandelion greens or watercress.
Purge your body of toxins like a star. Salma Hayek has launched her own juice cleanse with friend and Juice Generation founder Eric Helms. We’ll drink to that. [The Cut]
