EXCLUSIVE: La Mer Finally Surfaces On Instagram

-------

La Mer’s classic moisturizing crème has established a cult following among celebrities and beauty addicts worldwide. Now, the brand is attempting to garner the same status (and number of fans) on Instagram. Beginning on Monday, October 28, @LaMerOfficial will enter unchartered social media waters—but not without a captain at the helm. Acting as inaugural “Editor in Chic” is stylist-turned-swimwear designer Lisa Marie Fernandez. With over 10,000 followers on her own account, it’s safe to say she knows how to keep a captive audience. Her posts document not just a bevy of bathing suits, but scenes from the far-flung locales (like Bali, Brazil, Panama, and Greece) that inspire her designs. “They’re all pretty much sunny [places]…I’m not someone who goes to Aspen,” Fernandez quipped. The jetsetter said that she’s the “travel guinea pig” in her circle, always being the first to book a room at a newly opened hotel (a subject she’s just as passionate about and well-versed in as fashion).

Along with an Hermès toiletry bag that she keeps stocked with her must-have beauty products at all times, she always packs her first mate Bad Boy Albert, a stuffed animal who goes under the alias of “Bear de la Mer” on holiday (a nickname he acquired before her partnership with the company). While he has a brother named George who is more of a homebody, Albert has sat front row at Peter Pilotto (donning a scarf made out of fabric from the collection) and spent his summer in the Mediterranean wearing custom-made swim trunks that have a slit for his tail—all moments captured on camera. “He gets more likes than pictures of Alicia Keys,” said his proud owner. When asked if she’d one day bring George along for the ride, Fernandez replied, “I could never travel around with two bears, that would be ridiculous. We’d need a nanny.”

Before this “Editor in Chic” spends seven days sharing her favorite hotels and most memorable destinations, Fernandez gave Style.com a sneak peek (see her snaps below). The one thing you won’t find photos of: a treadmill. This designer keeps her body in bikini-worthy shape by exploring her surroundings. “The last thing I want to do is spend an hour at the gym in a beautiful city,” she said. Agreed.

Gwyneth Paltrow Is Officially the “Most Beautiful”; Another Red Alert; And More…

-------

People magazine has named Gwyneth Paltrow the world’s most beautiful woman of 2013. No surprise there. The GOOP creator credits her family—and that five-day-a-week Tracy Anderson Method workout regimen—for looking and feeling great. [People]

Amber Le Bon might have followed in her mother Yasmin’s footsteps when she became a model, but it’s her father, Duran Duran front man Simon Le Bon, that she goes to for beauty products. “If I’m feeling in a very naughty mood, I’ll steal some of Daddy’s Crème de la Mer,” she says. “On the whole, though, I’m very low-maintenance.” [Daily Mail]

Scarlett Johansson has joined Megan Fox and Rachel McAdams and gone a shade of bright auburn for the filming of Captain America 2. Three’s as trend, as they say. [E!]

Face of Rimmel cosmetics and Just Cavalli fragrance, Georgia May Jagger is a generous beauty-product junkie. On a recent trip to NYC, the Brit It girl picked up a big tub of the local Bee Yummy Body Cream for her pal and fellow model Cara Delevingne.
