Portman And Coppola To Join Forces For Dior, A Buzz-Worthy Botox Alternative, And More…

-------

Word around the blogosphere is that Natalie Portman’s first order of business as the face of Dior Beauty will be to star in the brand’s latest cinemercial, which will allegedly be shot by Sofia Coppola. For those of you who, like us, watched the director’s sweet, macaron-fueled Miss Dior Cherie short film on repeat when it launched last year, that list of future work procrastination tools just got a little more interesting. [Grazia]

With the announcement about her new fragrance out of the way, Katy Perry has better things to talk to fans about, namely the one girl she’d actually like to kiss (see Portman, Natalie, above) and her manicure plans for her upcoming nuptials to Russell Brand. The self-proclaimed “nail aficionado and freak” will be going with traditional, pretty “wedding nails,” rather than hand designs and Minx appliqués. Bor-ing. [MTV]

For those of you concerned about LiLo’s time in prison, rest assured: The troubled actress has been allowed to keep her hair extensions in, despite earlier reports to the contrary. Only detachable extensions are removed from inmates’ tresses, apparently. Thank goodness for that pro bonding job, eh? [NY Post]

The latest buzzed-about ingredient to join the antiaging discourse? Bee venom, an organic, line-diminishing substance that stars in a new facial that’s taking the London style set by storm. So, yes, Gwyneth is into it. [Daily Mail]

Dior Does Bon Voyage In Style

-------

Dior pretty much owns the beauty bauble at this point. While most brands typically put out a solid fragrance-cum-cocktail ring around the holidays, Dior tries to factor some kind of trinket into every collection it puts out, which, as lovers of makeup/jewelry hybrids, we appreciate. (Side note: Does anyone else still wear their Dior Gourmette lip gloss chain ID bracelet circa Spring 2007?). For summer, the French brand brings us the Addicted to Dior Luggage Tag, a jeweled silver key chain that features the Paris boutique’s iconic 30 Avenue Montaigne address as well as two shades of lip gloss, in Sun-Kissed Bronze and Fresh Pink. It launched last month and is the perfect travel companion for shimmering lips en route to the terminal. It should ensure zero confusion at the baggage claim, too; you’ll definitely know which black case is yours as it tumbles down the conveyor belt with this baby on its handle.

Tanning, From The Inside Out?; Dior Beauty Joins The Vlogger Generation; And More…

-------

A recent study confirms what most of us already knew: Environmental factors like smoking, being overweight, and not using sunscreen are more likely to cause the physical signs of aging than a genetic predisposition. (Sorry for the accusations, Mom.) [Science Daily]

There is hope for the sunscreen-shunners among you, though. A new anti-sunburn drug that protects even the palest of people from skin cancer and UV rays may be hitting the market. It also allegedly causes a tan, but isn’t being branded for cosmetic purposes… yet. [The Telegraph]

Following Stila’s lead, Dior Beauty has started its own video site, featuring tutorials on how to best apply its products. Watch out, Lauren Luke. [Independent]

You say tomato, L’Oreal says great skin. The French beauty company has just released a new cosmeceutical in Europe that puts the wrinkle-preventing power of lycopene in one daily pill. Color us red with envy. [Daily Mail]

Professional-grade beauty devices for hair removal and washing, sloughing, and perfecting your skin are infiltrating the market. Behold the age of the “prosumer.” [L.A. Times]

Makeup Bag Check: Blake Lively

-------

The Mission: Make Blake Lively the most red-carpet-ready Gossip Girl in attendance at the 2009 Emmy Awards.

The Glam Squad: Celebrity makeup artist Kristofer Buckle for Dior Beauty and hairstylist Renato Campora for Frédéric Fekkai.

The Face: Buckle relied on a lot of warm honey colors to make Lively’s green eyes “pop,” including DiorBronze Original Tan in Amber Tan #03, Dior Serum de Rouge Lipstick as a base with Dior Addict Lip Polish in Radiance Expert on top, and Dior 5-Colour Eyeshadow in Beige Messai #705. To get that ethereal, otherworldly glow on her cheekbones and shoulders, Buckle actually used Dior Eye Show in Undressed Beige. “It’s technically an eye shadow,” he says, “but it works basically anywhere you want to reflect the light!” Noted.

The Hair: Going for a “goddess-style updo” inspired by Lively’s red Versace gown, Campora prepped her hair with Fekkai Coiff Strong Hold Volume Mousse, then blew it dry, adding a touch of styling gel to keep it smooth. Then he teased all the hair and pulled it up into a high ponytail, added some extensions for drama, and braided the entire length for maximum over-the-shoulder-swinging-and-posing potential.

The Result: A capital W in the Lively vs. Meester Emmy showdown.

Harley Viera Newton’s Sounds Of Summer

-------

Dior Beauty DJ Harley Viera Newton will make an appearance at Sephora Times Square tomorrow afternoon to help launch the new Dior Cristal summer color collection with DiorShow artist Rodderick Gregg. She’ll also be signing palettes and spinning seasonally appropriate tunes. Because we hate waiting—and not getting special treatment—we went ahead and asked the Egyptology undergrad if she’d make an exclusive summer mix for us to load onto our iPod for the warmer days that are to come. She happily complied (we are very persuasive) and told us that her picks would do you right for dancing, road trips, or just walking to work. Enjoy.
