Upton will be the new spokeswoman for Gillette…hawking its men’s, not women’s, razors…and will star in promo videos for its Fusion ProGlide Styler in which she comes clean about what it will take to win her over. As per a recent round of paparazzi shots of Beyoncé frolicking at the beach, it’s more than evident that People‘s most beautiful woman in the world has her pre-baby body back. So, how’d she do it? “I lost most of my weight from breast-feeding…[but] I counted calories. I worked out maybe three to four times a week. I did a lot of walking in the beginning and now I’m running. I had to work my way up,” according to the new mother of one. [People]

After a year’s worth of hype, burlesque bombshell Dita Von Teese has finally debuted her first signature scent. At a launch event at Liberty of London yesterday, Von Teese explained that the perfume recalls femme fatale types dancing the night away at a Parisian nightclub. “I just love the idea of this beautiful heady night time when [fragrance] mingles with our body odeur and smoke and nightlife,” she said. It’s been four years since Lanvin launched its Jeanne Lanvin fragrance for a younger demographic, and this month marks the scent’s emergence as a woman. Jeanne Lanvin Couture, a slightly more grown-up version of the beloved original, includes raspberry notes as well as hints of rose, violet leaves, and cedarwood. [WWD]

This just in: Naomi Campbell has been tapped as a judge for The Face, a new Oxygen Network-produced modeling competition series in which she will be one of three supermodels responsible for “molding, nurturing, and transforming contestants,” all of whom will be vying for a brand ambassador role with a nationally recognized company. Flowerbomb, meet Spicebomb. Viktor & Rolf are introducing their first men’s fragrance offering. The chili, saffron, leather, bergamot, grapefruit, and pink pepper eau will arrive in January as the masculine counterpart to their smash hit women’s scent. [WWD]

Lady Gaga has spoken out about the rumors that her forthcoming fragrance with Coty Inc. with smell like blood and semen. Apparently, the scent will be based on the molecular structure of the bodily fluids, not the actual aromas themselves. The eau itself will take on the smell of “an expensive hooker,” according to the pop star. [Daily Mail]

How does Dita Von Teese manage to keep her pinup-era hair and makeup so utterly perfect all the time? “Practice. The reason I’m able to do my makeup so well is that I do it all the time,” Von Teese says. “I don’t wait for a special occasion.” [WSJ]

Walgreens Is Upping The Beauty Ante; Dita Von Teese Dreams Big For Her Fragrance Empire; And More…


Duane Reade recently revealed its suped-up The Look Boutique on Wall Street, replete with upmarket mass-prestige crossover products, blow-dry services, and a manicure bar, and by all accounts the concept shop is working; Walgreens just announced plans to export the idea into its network of stores nationwide. Eau de Dita Von Teese is officially on the market. The burlesque singer made landfall in Germany to debut her signature scent—which won’t be Von Teese’s last venture into the fragrance market. “I would hope I could be like Elizabeth Taylor and be on my 40th perfume by the time I’m in a wheelchair,” she says. Also now available for your spritzing pleasure: Taylor Swift’s first flacon, Wonderstruck. “A fragrance can help shape someone’s first impression and memory of you,” the country superstar says of the freesia, honeysuckle, and vanilla scent. “It’s exciting to think that Wonderstruck will play a role in creating some of those memories.” [MTV]

Rihanna, Back To Brunette; Over-Airbrushing: How Much Do You Really Care? And More…


After a serious devotion to a peculiar shade of magenta red, Rihanna went back to brunette over the weekend. Don’t get too used to it, though. We have a feeling she’ll change it up again soon. Better off aqua, perhaps? [Us]

The burlesque queen tweeted that her signature scent would not include “fruit, candy, or vanilla” essences back in May, and now she has revealed what it will include: “a lot of luscious flowers—Bulgarian rose, tiare, peony—and sexy wood” for something that appeals to “grown-up girls.” [WWD]

In light of the recent crackdown on over-airbrushed, unrealistic beauty advertisements in the U.K., there has been an inquiry into women’s perception of digital enhancement in the U.S. The overall findings? We don’t care quite as much on this side of the pond. “We’re aspiring to improve,” the general opinion seems to be stateside, which means beauty companies are not really selling a product—or any kind of real idea of beauty; they’re selling a state of mind.
