In The Operating Room With NARS And Fabien Baron

-------

The controlled, precise movements of a surgeon in the operating room served as the inspiration behind NARS‘ new Fabien Baron-directed short film for its Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliners ($23), starring model of the moment Emily Baker, with makeup by Mark Carrasquillo. It doesn’t take the sturdy hand of a doctor (or, in this case, a robot) to apply these creamy liners. They’re billed as fool-proof (translation: smudge-proof and long-lasting), and we can attest to both of those claims. They are available in stores now in nine different shades, from Via Veneto black to Abbey Road electric blue. My favorite? The Rue de Rivoli—it’s perfect to achieve a smoky eye with a twist of hunter green. The short debuts exclusively above.

Opium, Highly Addictive In a Whole New Way

-------

Thirty-two years ago, Yves Saint Laurent rocked the perfume world with the introduction of Opium. It was the exotic sexpot’s answer to Chanel No. 5′s timeless elegance, with suggestive naked advertising to boot. Starting next year, the mandarin, bergamot, jasmine, and sweet myrrh eau will be sporting a “modern” makeover courtesy of Stefano Pilati and Fabien Baron. The duo has designed both a new bottle and an advertising campaign for the fragrance starring Karen Elson. Junkies will be able to get their fix stateside beginning in March. Space NK Goes National

-------

For those of you unable—or unwilling—to make the trip to Space NK’s only U.S. satellite stores, in Manhattan and Short Hills, New Jersey, respectively, some good news: The British-based apothecary known for stocking an exceptionally well-curated selection of choice beauty products has joined forces with Bloomingdale’s to offer a unique retail space at nine of the department store’s nationwide locations. The ribbon was officially cut at Bloomies’ Upper East Side flagship this morning, to be followed by its downtown outpost, as well as five sites in California later this month. Luxury skincare and makeup from niche international brands (plus those incredibly chic Fabien Baron-designed perfume bottles for Space NK’s new, in-house line of signature fine fragrances) are now much more accessible—an excellent early holiday gift, to be sure.
