Glamour Grillz

-------

2013 MTV Video Music Awards - AudienceComedy Central may have “roasted” James Franco last night in Culver City, but at the VMAs in Brooklyn, it was all about grills. Rihanna was decidedly understated this year—wearing cuffed jeans, an MC Lyte tee, a diamond-studded collar, and a tiny cross positioned between her two front teeth. And while this isn’t the first time that RiRi debuted some bedazzled dental work (wearing a much larger gold gun earlier in the month), this bite-sized version is something we can get on board with (especially when compared to Katy Perry’s over-the-top, rainbow, diamond-studded “ROAR” mouthpiece). With everyone from Madge to Queen Bey giving their pearly whites a serious gilt trip, we’re wondering if the mouth party will become as mainstream as the arm party? And an even bigger question, will Lara Stone or Georgia May Jagger fill their famous gaps with grills? Time (and teeth) shall tell.

Roberto Cavalli Has Georgia On His Mind

-------

On the heels of its Spring show this morning, Just Cavalli is staging a blowout party tonight for the opening of its flagship boutique in Milan, and everyone will be there—everyone being Solange Knowles and Azealia Banks, that is, both of whom are expected to perform in front of the crowd of 1,000 strong. All of this is impressive, of course, although there’s another boldfaced name on the Just Cavalli roster that’s got our attention: That’d be Georgia May Jagger. Mick and Jerry’s youngest has just snagged a new gig as the face of the brand’s forthcoming fragrance, due out this spring. “It is the first fragrance that I have ever done, so it is a huge honor,” Jagger has said in a statement, completing a spokesperson trifecta that includes a makeup contract with Rimmel and a denim deal with Hudson. Roberto Cavalli reportedly chose the rock progeny-turned-model himself because she is “a playful temptress”—who presumably can wear animal print with the best of them. On that note, we’d be lying if we said we weren’t excited about Jagger’s Mario Sorrenti-lensed ad campaign.

The 411: Georgia May Jagger

-------

Despite the enviable genes that destined her for runway superstardom, Georgia May Jagger—the youngest daughter of Jerry Hall and Mick Jagger—didn’t start modeling until the ripe old age of 17. It didn’t take her long to transcend the ranks of the rag trade, though: Her first year in, Jagger nabbed spreads in British, French, Italian, and RussianVogue, not to mention a slew of campaigns (for Hudson Jeans, Rimmel London, and Paris’ Polo de Deauville), as well as the Model of the Year award from the British Fashion Council. A little turn on Karl Lagerfeld’s 2011 Chanel Resort runway in St. Tropez followed, as did a starring role as the face of the collection’s lookbook. “Miss Jagger is the modern girl. She is the girl of today,” Lagerfeld told British Vogue at the time. A full year later, and it would appear as though Jagger is the girl of tomorrow, too. A fulltime student, the 19-year-old has found time to strike a pose for the September issues of U.S. Harper’s Bazaar, Pop, Vogue Italia and Brazilian Vogue, for which she graces the cover. “I’m either in school or I’m working, so I don’t have a ton of time to do stuff,” Jagger says of maintaining any kind of regular primping rituals. But the lippy blonde who loves Vivienne Westood and Isabel Marant—”Pretty much 50 percent of every collection she does, I want,” she says of Marant—does have a few local beauty breaks she can’t live without. Here, just in time for LFW, the down-to-earth sociology and photography major shares her favorite destinations in Londontown—and this thoughtful beauty tip: “Be confident as yourself and do what works for you, not what works for other people.”

The Makeup Bag Must-Haves: Practice What You Preach

“I always have mascara with me. Rimmel’s new ScandalEyes Mascara is my favorite, because it’s got a massive brush, which means you can just put it on really quickly. I also can’t be without lip gloss or lipstick. I like the Rimmel Vinyl Max Lip Gloss in Breathless, because it’s quite nude-y.”

The All-Natural Multi-Tasker: Egyptian Magic

“My mom is always saying things like, ‘Your body is a temple.’ She’s really on it like that, so I know about natural stuff. I like things like Egyptian Magic. It’s an organic Vaseline, which is quite nice. I use it as a lip balm.”

The Hair Heroes: Jo Hansford
“Once you start modeling and people start messing around with your hair so much, you kind of need to have someone who just knows what to do. I’ve had a few ups and down with my hair, as everyone has, and I kept going to places that I heard were good. But I don’t think you should pick your hairdresser on their status. I love Jo Hansford for color and cuts, even though my new year’s resolution was to not cut my hair.”

Jerry And Georgia, Like Mother, Like Daughter; Emma Watson Acts Out; And More…

-------

Proper skincare is apparently a family affair for the Jaggers, as mother Jerry Hall and daughter Georgia May headed down under this week to fête Invisible Zinc, the Aussie sunscreen line whose ad visuals the two women front. So that’s how Hall manages to look so good makeup-free. [Daily Mail]

The blogosphere erupted when actress Emma Watson lopped off her hair into a pixie this summer, and apparently the shearing was in fact an act of rebellion. In the December issue of Vogue U.K., the Harry Potter actress reveals that she was “contractually obligated” to keep her hair long and refrain from getting a tan to play pasty-faced Hermione Granger. Another thing to look forward to in 2011? A new version of Issey Miyake’s famed L’Eau d’Issey—a floral adaptation that looks essential for Spring. [Grazia]

Beach Hair On—And Off—The Sand

-------

What is it about the incipient summer that spawns a desire for piece-y, languid waves? For us, it’s memories of beach hair past and pictures like these that make us recall how great it feels to eschew the blow-dryer and the smoothing creams in favor of salt sprays, texturizers, and plain old air-drying. Last night, Mary-Kate Olsen and Georgia May Jagger offered up their own no-fuss versions of the seasonal style. Olsen went with a middle-parted, matted-down incarnation at the premiere of Holy Rollers in New York, while Jagger opted for a side part with a little bit more body at Karl Lagerfeld’s film presentation party in Saint-Tropez. Both serve to remind us that natural coiffing techniques can be just as effective as more manicured manes, while also conjuring a little bit of personal jealousy, since we’ll never know what it’s like to be a sandy blonde (damn you, olive complexion). Whose low-maintenance look do you like better?
