Reece Hudson’s Clutch Colors

A red manicure is a seasonal standard at this point. And whether you like your crimson merry and bright or glitzy and glamorous, there’s already a bottle for everyone. Reece Solomon, the designer behind handbag line Reece Hudson, partnered with RGB founder Gina Carney to create two limited-edition polishes (launching tomorrow) that felt just as festive but were far more unexpected. The duo decided upon Rose Gold and Green Gold to match the hardware on Solomon’s Fall collection…and coordinate with pretty much everything else that’s already in your closet. “There’s been a long period of it being cool to clash, so, naturally, the opposite is always going to feel more fresh,” the designer explained. “There’s also something much more interesting and modern about seeing green-gold nails against an identically colored metal bag than, say, red nails on a red satin clutch.” As for what Solomon carries in her metal minaudière (her evening accessory of choice for the holidays): Rosebud lip salve, lipstick, Altoids, a lighter, and a travel-size vial of perfume. Although both shimmery shades are guaranteed to make the matchy-matchy concept feel fresh again, this duo looks equally as divine against a glass of bubbly.

RGB_HIPP_HighlightLast we checked in with Jenna Hipp, the self-proclaimed green celebrity nail artist was revolutionizing the world of nude polish with her Nail Foundation, a lineup of skin-tone-hued lacquers designed in collaboration with RGB Cosmetics founder Gina Carney. Her Nail Tints, sheer versions of the same complexion-matching shades, followed shortly thereafter, reviving the better-off-bare movement and causing many a style-savvy woman to give up on off-kilter colors in favor of neutral simplicity. Hipp is still championing statement-making subtlety, although she’s going for gleam this summer. Her latest HIPP x RGB creation is called Highlight, and it functions as both an illuminating topcoat as well as a simple contouring varnish when worn on its own. Multicolor shimmering spheres give the pearlescent base an iridescent quality that Hipp says works best when painted on in a single swipe down the center of nails. Add it to your manicure must-haves for June, July, and August.

$20, available at www.netaporter.com June 2013.

Like Tinted Moisturizer, For Your Nails

-------

When Jenna Hipp signed on with RGB Cosmetics last year, it was a match made in nail heaven. The self-proclaimed “green celebrity nail artist” joined forces with Gina Carney’s L.A.-based polish brand to create HIPP x RGB Nail Foundation, a four-piece collection of flesh-toned lacquers to match a range of different complexions, thus setting off Spring’s nude nail craze. Neutrals continued their tips tear on the Fall runways—and right on cue, so has Hipp. The manicurist just launched HIPP X RGB Nail Tints, the sheer version of her original, opaque offering. Reminiscent of a tinted moisturizer in that they only pack a trace of perfecting pigment, the Tints are available in the same four hues as their heavier-coverage counterparts. Two coats impart that coveted “done” effect that you just can’t get with 3-D crystals and leopard spot-designs.
