An Eye-Catching Video From i-D; Rihanna’s Still Doing the Doobie; and More

Yes, there are twenty-six ways to wink. i-D celebrates all of them (and 33 years of their signature cover pose) in a video featuring everyone from Cara Delevingne to Rick Owens.

Taryn Manning of Orange Is the New Black arrived on the red carpet for the International Emmy Awards sporting platinum strands. It looks as if the brunette-to-blond
red-carpet epidemic is set to continue.

In other hair news, Rihanna’s doobie is still going strong. She hit Drake’s concert in L.A. last night wearing the same Dominican hair salon-inspired style she sported at the AMAs.

Teens are often masters of invention, and when given a bottle of nail-polish remover, the possibilities extend far beyond neatening a chipped manicure. Two 19-year-old roommates in Liverpool helped robbers clean dye-pack-splashed bills with this beauty product. [The Cut]

If You Can’t Stand the Heat…

cara-delevingneIf I looked as fantastic with frizz as Cara Delevingne does in the September issue of i-D magazine (which she posted on her Instagram account yesterday), I’d be tempted to forgo the AC and opt for a paper fan. Alas, I am not the super who can rock black curls or rainbow streaks in a series of selfies for the aforementioned glossy, so let’s just say I’m dreading the day my electric bill arrives.

Natalia Vodianova Strips Down

Never mind the greased-up nudie pics of Natalia Vodianova circa her Calvin Klein underwear days that have likely burned a permanent place in your brain. This right here is why she is hands-down one of the greatest beauties in the fashion world today. Being able to go barefaced with only a dark, filled-in brow and some intentional tousling to spruce up a cropped bob—and still look this flawless in the latest issue of i-D magazine—is a quality few possess, as far as we’re concerned. Even though this image is part of a spring editorial, Vodianova is making easy work of the soon-to-be popular pared-down lips, clean skin, and statement arches that dominated the Fall runways (stay tuned for our beauty trends preview later this week). Take some notes, or just stare at the picture for a few more minutes, as we can’t seem to help but do.

Peter Philips Redefines Lash Luxury

The editors at i-D magazine essentially dedicated January’s “Beautiful Issue” to cover girl Eniko Mihalik, the Hungarian model and Gucci campaign star whose otherworldly cheeks and generally perfect, Daria Werbowy-like visage are garnering her It girl status. An It team was thus assembled to prep and photograph her for the shoot, including Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin behind the lens, Oribe on hair, and one Peter Philips on makeup duty. Occasionally taking off his creative director of Chanel makeup hat for the right editorial engagement, Philips applied a precise coat of what we’re assuming is one of Chanel’s new goth-inspired Rouge Allure lip colors due out in February (Hysteria is a phenomenal shade of black with a hint of violet) to Mihalik’s doll-like pout while utilizing actual jewels, rather than jewel tones, to make her lower lashes, er, stand out. A strange accessory to be sure, although one that could potentially have a shot at retail success. (Chanel devotees are generally cut from an exceedingly loyal cloth.)

Jourdan Dunn + Crazy Curls = Magic

As if you needed another reason to love Jourdan Dunn, take a gander at her “undone,” natural, frizzy curls courtesy of hairstylist Paul Hanlon. The spread comes from i-D magazine’s appropriately themed “God’s Gift” issue, in which Dunn wears all Alaïa, all the time. (A divine Christmas has indeed come early.) While complete mimicry is out of the question, as it is near impossible to duplicate facial perfection like this, Bumble and Bumble’s newly revamped Curl Conscious collection can at least help you pay hair homage.
