Jessica Alba is in New York this week promoting her new movie Little Fockers—and what better time to debut a new haircut! “Renato cut it,” she told us yesterday at an intimate gathering at the Trump Soho hotel to introduce Revlon’s latest product line. Renato, of course, is Renato Campora, Frédéric Fekkai celebrity stylist and the man responsible for Alba’s new blunt-cut bob. Being part of the cast for the third installment of the Meet the Parents franchise starring Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro was a dream come true for the actress. “I’ve always wanted to do comedy,” she told us, explaining that comedians like Lucille Ball and Peter Sellers are why she got into the business in the first place. “I really felt like I needed to bring my A game,” she added, referring to her co-star Ben Stiller as a “comic genius.”
While we can’t attest to Alba’s performance, we can say that she hit a home run with her makeup at the Ziegfeld Theatre last night. “Young and fresh with a holiday sparkle” is how face painter Lauren Andersen described the look she crafted to complement Alba’s strapless white Valentino dress. Starting with Revlon ColorStay foundation as a base, Andersen added its Fluid Sheer in gold to the star’s cheeks for luminescence, topping it off with Mineral Blush in Petal, a light pink. Andersen wanted the focal point to be Alba’s eyes, so she dusted them with Dior 5-Color Palette in Incognito and MAC Pro Glitter in Reflects Gold. A precise swipe of Hourglass Liquid Eyeliner in Black and Kevin Aucoin’s Brow Pencils in Blonde (to fill) and Brunette (to shape) completed the look. On her lips: Revlon’s ColorBurst Lip Gloss in Bronze Shimmer.
As for her post-premiere plans, all Alba wants for the holidays is a vacation, a neck massage, and maybe some jewelry. “I love vintage jewelry,” she told us. “And anything Eddie Borgo. It’s just art—so pretty!”
With no supermodel or superhero theme providing fodder for the outrageous looks of Met galas past (remember Madonna’s Vuitton bunny ears?), this year’s American Woman exhibit seemed to inspire a general air of classic simplicity in the beauty department—with a few colorful moments thrown in for good measure (more on that in an upcoming post). One of the biggest trends on the red carpet seemed to be an homage to pin curls and marcel waves, styles preferred by starlets of the thirties and forties—and a handful of their twenty-first-century counterparts last night. Jessica Alba, Kate Bosworth, Kristen Stewart, Marion Cotillard, and Iman all sported variations on sleek, ridged texture with deep side or middle parts. Who do you think did the ‘do best?
Early risers looking for a way to enjoy what is supposed to be some glorious verging-on-summer weather in New York this weekend—while supporting women’s health initiatives—should head over to Times Square tomorrow morning for the start of the annual Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) Revlon 5K Run/Walk for Women. Below, we’ve come up with a top three list of reasons why it’s worth your while to make for midtown on a Saturday:
1. As one of the largest single-day fundraisers for women’s cancers in the country, you could be among 25,000 cardio-enthusiasts burning calories together to help raise funds in support of breast and ovarian cancer research.
2. It’s supposed to be 85 degrees tomorrow, so getting yourself up, out, and moving early will ensure maximum enjoyment of the day. Plus, a 5K is like…only three miles. Bring a coffee and a friend and leisurely stroll your way up to Central Park’s East Meadow, where the event culminates.
3. Revlon brand ambassadors Halle Berry, Jessica Alba, and Jessica Biel will be there (we’re guessing in yoga pants and baseball caps), as will Revlon artistic director Gucci Westman. One Dr. Oz will also be in attendance (we fancy him more of a warm-up pants kind of guy).
Click here to register, or just show up in Times Square around 8:15 a.m. for the opening ceremonies. Bring water, sunscreen, and peace of mind knowing that you’ve done womankind a small solid.
If you’ve been wondering how best to accessorize the multicolored shifts from Proenza Schouler’s hit Spring collection, Jessica Alba had the answer last night at the Tribeca Film Festival and Tribeca Film Celebration in L.A: navy eyeliner and electric blue nail polish. Give Milani’s new NEON collection a whirl in Dude Blue for the latter; at just $4.50 a bottle, it’ll help offset the cost of the dress. What do you think of the whole look?
M.I.A. is hip-hop all the way. Case in point: While Eva Mendes, Camilla Belle, and Jessica Alba wore frilly, daytime-appropriate dresses to the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund event at the Chateau Marmont this weekend, the “Paper Planes” singer opted for lots of black leather and over-the-knee boots. On her nails: a white basket weave print that looks like a design from the highly anticipated new collection of Minx nail overlays. The line is due out later this month but has already been given to a handful of famous fans for a trial run. Ah, the perks of celebrity. Thoughts on her precision tips?
