2010 marks the ten-year milestone for a few major players in the beauty and fashion world. Lancôme is fêting a decade in Juicy Tubes, we will be commemorating ten years at the forefront of style come NYFW (so much more on this later), and Juicy Couture can proudly lay claim to ten full years of terrycloth tracksuit renown (don’t scoff; you know you owned at least one back in ’02). To properly celebrate its heritage, the California-bred company has a few party favors in the works for would-be revelers. Its collaboration with designer Erin Fetherston hits stores in November, and just arriving at a beauty counter near you is its latest fragrance offering, Peace, Love & Juicy Couture. Meant to bottle the “free-spirited hippie vibe of Malibu,” according to its press release, the fruity floral eau de parfum boasts notes of wild hyacinth, sweet apple, and black currant bud absolute blended with sambac jasmine absolute, star magnolia, honeysuckle, and musks. It’s sweet, it’s girly, it’s very Juicy—right down to the tasseled turquoise stone charm bracelet that’s wrapped around the neck of the bottle. But hey, with ten-plus years of pedaling pretty-with-an-edge already under its belt, why mess with a good thing?
As mentioned on a few different occasions prior to this post, purple is at the top of the It colors list this season, frequently showing up on eyes and nails—typically in its metallic amethyst incarnation—at select events and in even more select glossies. But the November issue of Numéro is the first time that I’ve seen the color in such opacity on lips—outside of those Tim Walker Juicy Couture ads with Lisa Cant and the multicolored surfboards, that is. Makeup artist Lloyd Simmons wasn’t playing around when he whipped up this shade of blue-violet. The color is so, well, vivid, that I’m currently looking at Ali Stephens’ furrowed brow and staring back at her with the same expression, having trouble formulating an opinion as to whether the hue is exceptional or off-putting. Either way, I am, shall we say, taken with it. You?
Attention Upper East Siders—especially Blake Lively and Leighton Meester: There’s a new Queen B in town. That would be Jessica Szohr, a.k.a. Gossip Girl‘s Vanessa, and her set of ultra outrageous (and natural looking!) hair extensions. Spotted last night at both the Juicy Couture flagship store opening on Fifth Avenue and Lucky magazine’s 5th annual “Lucky Shops” event, the CW star pretty much surpassed her co-stars in otherworldliness, with a zigzag part and what was likely a 1″ curling iron. We’re assuming that you’re all in agreement with our OMFG sentiments, although there’s always room for dissenting opinions. Still a Serena fan? A backer of Blair? A proponent of a shorter-haired Vanessa? Divulge. xoxo.
