Jessica Simpson’s Post-Baby Diet Plans Put On Hold; How To Eat Like An Angel; And More…

-------

Jessica Simpson confirmed via Twitter yesterday that she is in fact pregnant with her second child a cool seven months after giving birth to her first. So, what does that mean for the multi-million dollar deal she signed with Weight Watchers, which was hoping to benefit on what would have been a very public post-baby slim down? There will be “no changes,” says the dieting brand, which will use footage of Simpson’s weight loss after giving birth to baby Maxwell in May in a new advertising campaign. Simpson “will not be following the program” during her second pregnancy. [USA Today]

In other dieting news, Victoria’s Secret Angel and former Leonardo DiCaprio flame Erin Heatherton admits that while working out is essential to maintaining her Angel-caliber body, so is eating. “It’s important to be fit, but you shouldn’t get too skinny. You need to have curves,” says the blond bombshell, who works out twice a day but also makes sure to keep her calorie intake high, so there’s something to “build on. If you’re not eating enough, all the work-outs are doing, it’s not going to show.” [Daily Mail]

Beware of bootleg Botox. According to a letter the FDA sent to 350 medical practices last month that was just made public, counterfeit and potentially dangerous forms of the wrinkle-reducing toxin have been purchased from Canadian pharmaceutical companies and are currently circulating stateside. Turkey’s beauty tourism business is booming, but it’s not the country’s signature hammams that are bringing in the big bucks. Nope, that honor goes to an uptick in visitors to the country seeking beard and mustache implants! [Guardian]

Celebrity fragrances were big sellers at the retail counter this holiday season, with Lady Gaga’s Fame topping out as the number one perfume in the U.K., while sets from Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber were big sellers at home. [Starpulse and Glamour]

The Leave-In Mitt Believes In; Beyoncé Gets Bangs; And More…

-------

Justin Bieber’s new fragrance, Girlfriend, is coming to a beauty counter near you this month but this teaser trailer for the scent starring the teen dream himself should get you plenty excited in the mean time. [E!]

In a first-person account of what it was like to be the backup hairstylist to the Romneys and Ryans at the Republican National convention—from a liberal, no less!—we’ve gleaned the following tidbits of information. 1) Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan style their own hair; 2) they do so with product recommended to them by their corps of groomers, like the Fat Boy Perfect Putty that is currently going around Hair Force One; and 3) this product can be purchased at Urban Outfitters. This should win them at least a few youth votes during tomorrow’s election. [The Cut]

While Halle Berry is also a fan of using putties and waxes to style her short crop, she insists that her signature style doesn’t define her. “It’s just an accessory that I get to wear, like a handbag or shoes.” [People]

And in more hair news, Beyoncé has gotten bangs. Blue Ivy’s mom took time out of her busy campaigning-for-Obama schedule to watch a Brooklyn Nets game—and show off her new fall fringe. [Us]

Justin Bieber Calls Prince William Out on Hair Loss; CC Creams The New BB Creams?; And More…

-------

Prince William’s thinning hair has been a topic of considerable speculation since the Royal Wedding last year, and Justin Bieber recently called the future king out on his mane, saying, “I mean, there are things to prevent that nowadays, like Propecia. You just take Propecia and your hair grows back. Have you not got it over there?” Be careful what you say, Justin, karma comes around. [Telegraph]

This year, the beauty industry has been buzzing about Blemish Balms, a.k.a. BB creams, which combine primer and tinted moisturizer into one, and now there’s a new wave of products with an equally catchy alliterative nickname. Color control, or CC, creams, are touted to go one step beyond, providing similar coverage with the addition of nourishing ingredients. Could DD creams be far behind? [Refinery 29]

The New York Times reports a rise in hair transplants, cosmetic tattoos, and topical treatments aimed at achieving fuller eyebrows à la Cara Delevingne, Brooke Shields, or Kim Kardashian. For such matters, we remain trusty fans of the good ol’ brow pencil. [NYT]

Mohawks are now trending, thanks to Bobak Ferdowsi, the flight director on the Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity mission, who became an Internet sensation overnight for rocking the punky style. Think we will see those on the runway next month? We doubt it. [Guardian]

Spray-Tan Danger: What You Need To Know; Lauren Hutton, Scissor Sister; And More…

-------

In what can only be described as a power move to end all power moves, Elizabeth Arden has purchased the fragrance licenses of Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj from Give Back Brands LLC. Coty Inc., which holds licenses for Beyoncé’s scent empire, not to mention the as-yet-unreleased Lady Gaga perfume, has no doubt taken note. [WWD]

Bad news for the sunless tanning industry—and lovers of glowing skin the world over: A panel of medical experts has revealed that the active chemical used in spray tans—dihydroxyacetone (DHA)—can potentially damage DNA and cause genetic alterations if inhaled. Perhaps it’s finally time to embrace the pale. [IBT]

Lauren Hutton revealed a short crop at Stella McCartney’s Resort presentation on Monday, and apparently, the American Gigolo star cut it herself! “I was closing up a house, and it felt like I needed more closure. I guess I was depressed. I’d been doing that thing where I read The Economist too much. You know, reading it front to back for weeks on end isn’t always good for you. Instead of suicide, I ran into the kitchen and grabbed a pair of poultry shears. I grabbed one half [of my hair] and went whack, and then I grabbed the other side and went whack again!” [The Cut]

Also in the crowd at McCartney’s show was a newly shorn Anne Hathaway, who, as it is widely known known, cut her hair to play Fantine in Les Misérables. But even though she snipped her long strands for a role, Hathaway is considering keeping them cropped. “I’m just so pleased with how I look, so I now quite like having short hair.” [NY Mag]

GOT: The Hair Files; Bieber To Drop Girlfriend; And More…

If, like us, you are obsessed with HBO’s Game of Thrones (House Stark forever!), you may be interested to know that the show’s hair designer, Kevin Alexander, uses an estimated 20-30 wigs in the series. Daenerys Targaryen, Cersei Lannister, Melisandre, and Margaery Tyrell’s long, glorious locks? All human hair wigs—each of which is styled every day with Wella products and can cost up to $7,000! Sansa Stark’s long red locks are real, albeit colored with a mixture of four temporary dyes, as the actress Sophie Turner is actually a blonde. [Fashionista]

From impossibly long hair to shockingly short hair. Cate Blanchett has revealed that a new crop might be in the works. “Shaving off my hair is so liberating,” she says. “I had to do it once for a film role, but I’ve done it periodically, too. I cut my hair short a few years ago and I’m thinking about doing it again.” [Monsters & Critics]

Being better looking than someone in any form of competition only helps you prevail if you’re considerably better looking than them, according to economist Daniel S. Hamermesh, the author of Beauty Pays, a book about how physical attractiveness directly correlates to better financial compensation. Make of that what you will. [NYT]

After his first fragrance, Someday, took in record-breaking sales at the beauty counter, Justin Bieber has announced that plans for a follow-up scent, called Girlfriend, are already in the works. [OK!]
