Kristen Stewart took a break from her Balenciaga allegiances this weekend at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in L.A. to rock a shorts set from London-based designer Osman Yousefzada. But while the leggy look caused plenty of attention on the red carpet, we couldn’t stop staring at her hair. The starlet and her mane man, celebrity stylist Adir Abergel, came up with a tousled fishtail braid that was secured with a clear elastic band and pulled apart through the lengths to add a certain level of deconstruction to Stewart’s look, which is never prim, proper, or too perfect. It even looked good after she got “slimed” onstage, as is customary at these events. Thoughts on the woven technique?
Beauty Vending Machines: Coming To A Subway Station Near You?; Fragrance Bottles For Babies; And More…
Prestige skincare in the convenience of a vending machine? Believe it. BeautyMART, the newly launched project of two British beauty-industry vets, puts primping staples a simple press of the button away. MTA officials, are you listening? [Daily Mail]
They’re certainly not the first magazine to do a makeup-free story, but W‘s new issue may do it best. The glossy got Kristen Stewart, Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Naomi Watts, Jessica Chastain, and Keira Knightley to go maquillage-free—and guess what? Even with under-eye circles and skin imperfections, they’re all still pretty much drop-dead gorgeous. [Hollywood Life]
It was revealed yesterday via an Instagram from Stefano Gabbana that Dolce & Gabbana is working on a fragrance for babies—a startling revelation that is made that much crazier put into the context of the growing baby-perfume industry. The ultimate luxury is dousing your infant in fine fragrance, it seems. [Fashionista]
Speaking of surprising new scent categories, Stella McCartney would like to bottle the olfactory qualities of a barnyard. The designer, who clearly loves the smell of lily of the valley, which is the top note of her L.I.L.Y scent and its new Absolute, lists her other favorite aromas as the scent of her children’s breath and horses. “My friend and I always joke that one day we’ll launch a horse fragrance—obviously, we’d be the only ones who would buy it,” says McCartney. We’re not so sure about that; brand loyalty can be a funny thing. [InStyle U.K.]
The red-carpet buzz this morning has been all about Kristen Stewart, who showed up to the New York premiere of On the Road last night in a polarizing, barely-there Erdem ensemble—the third look in a series of questionable styling choices that have left little to the imagination. But we were more interested in another star sighting that happened across the globe. After about a year of distance from her acclaimed turn in 2011′s The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Rooney Mara showed face at the Dubai International Film Festival’s One Night to Change Lives’ charity gala having finally broken free from her Lisbeth Salander alter ego. Gone were the hacker-harsh bangs and ghostly pale complexion: in their place, longer, middle-parted strands and—wait for it—bronzer! We’re loving the new look. You too?
Miranda Kerr’s Beauty Secrets For A Happy Marriage; K-Stew’s Future At Balenciaga: A Discussion; And More…
What are Miranda Kerr’s secrets for keeping husband Orlando Bloom happy? A little lipstick and some lingerie—life lessons she learned from her grandmother. “Every day, put a little makeup on, put on some nice underwear, and you’ll keep your husband,” the Victoria’s Secret Angel advised on late-night television yesterday. For anyone wondering how the 36 models that walked the icy-cold Chanel Métiers d’Art runway last night in Scotland managed to keep their breath invisible, the answer is simple: “ice cubes pre-walk,” according to backstage regular Jaquelyn Jablonski. [Twitter]
With Alexander Wang officially in at Balenciaga, inquiring minds want to know if that means Kristen Stewart is out. The Balenciaga fragrance face might not jive with Wang’s ties to Liberty Ross, the model and wife of Rupert Sanders, with whom Stewart had a very public affair this summer, conspiracy theorists assert. There’s been no official comment from the French house—or Coty Prestige, which holds its fragrance license—but our bet is K-Stew will stay put, even without Nicolas Ghesquière, who brought her there in the first place. Fragrance contracts are binding, don’t ya know. [E!]
That Kristen Stewart loves to sweep her long, chestnut-colored locks over one shoulder is well-documented fact; a quick image search of the starlet will reveal a disproportionate number of appearances by the easy style. But red carpet cameos require a little extra coiffing security (the better to pose with rabid fans), which came via a hidden twist pinned behind Stewart’s ear courtesy of her trusted hairstylist Adir Abergel at The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2 world premiere last night in Los Angeles. Perfectly asymmetrical hair like that doesn’t just happen, it turns out. Thoughts on Stewart’s big night out sideshow act?
