What a difference a day makes—at least in the red-carpet life of Léa Seydoux. The French actress/model arrived for a photo call celebrating the BAFTA EE Rising Star Award nominees in London wearing a floral-printed Miu Miu dress and a powder pink Prada jacket, with pared-down pastel makeup to match. At last night’s National Board of Review Awards Gala in New York City, however, she turned up the glamour factor with gold and green eyeshadow and bold berry lips. In contrast to Monday’s strawberry blond hue, her hair also appeared a richer shade of auburn in the most recent snap. But considering the fact that she flew across the pond in time to turn up for yet another event, I doubt she had hours to spare and spend at the salon (unless, of course, she transformed herself at 35,000 feet like Lady Gaga). I’m attributing the slight tonal change to lighting and strands drenched with styling products. What do you think?
Yes, another wig worn by Lady Gaga. I, too, am tiring of keeping up with Mother Monster’s many hair changes (on Sunday, she was sporting a Christmas tree, topped with a giant gold star, on her head). However, this week’s dreads were reminiscent not just of a Rastafarian but the runway. They made an appearance on Max Mara’s minimalist catwalk for Spring 2012; at Karl Lagerfeld’s decadent, Indian-themed Pre-Fall 2012 presentation for Chanel, where Sam McKnight created jewelry-laden updos; and, more recently, at Junya Watanabe’s Spring 2014 show—with a look inspired by those (hippies, ravers, et cetera) who wait for their hair to “clean itself.” Here’s hoping Gaga sends her rug out to be laundered long before that happens.
After I board a plane, I feel lucky if I manage to remove my makeup with a wipe before I pass out into a Unisom-induced slumber, typically wedged up against the side of the aircraft. But if you’re Lady Gaga, however, you do a complete in-flight outfit switch and hair change. She departed LAX with Donatella Versace-like blond strands and arrived at Narita in Tokyo with a throwback bob (reminiscent of a put-together Pan Am stewardess). While a team of hairstylists and makeup artists isn’t available to the majority of us who fly commercial, there is one thing we can all take away from her makeover at 35,000 feet: Sport sunglasses to cover up bleary eyes and mascara smudges. As for your hair, may I suggest a hat…or if you’re prepping for the paps or just feeling ambitious, a wig à la Gaga.
Coco has a crop, Lady Gaga is wearing Queen Bey’s waves, and now Kelly Osbourne has a new set of fringe (which she debuted only a few hours ago on Instagram). We’re reminded of that moment in Legally Blonde, in which Elle’s friend Serena proudly proclaims, “I got bangs! My hair is so now!”
Oxygen has plans to launch a competition show, Nailed It!, in which contestants will go head-to-head (or rather, hand-to-hand) in an attempt to win the title of ultimate nail artist. We think a great challenge would be to re-create Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel ceiling using all ten tips as a canvas. Network execs, take note. [Variety]
Katy Perry owns the throne and sheds a powdered wig for her latest fragrance, Killer Queen. Check out the thirty-second video clip on The Cut.
We discussed the nose ring on Daria’s cover of Paris Vogue earlier this summer, but her wavy, windswept hair wasn’t too shabby either. Now actress Rebecca Hall is rocking the model’s look on the red carpet. [Byrdie]
News flash: We found Beyoncé’s blonde mermaid waves. She might have sheared them off in favor of the cropped cut that lasted about a millisecond in the fast-paced world of social media, and then magically reappeared with a slightly longer bob days later. But in case you were wondering where those long locks went, you can find them on none other than Lady Gaga, who was spotted wearing oddly similar-looking chest-grazing strands yesterday, outside her hotel in Soho. Bey, if you’re still on the hunt for your hair, consider the mystery solved. You’re welcome.
