Jason Wu x Lancôme; Backstage At Copenhagen Fashion Week; and More…

Jason Wu launched a nail collaboration with CND three years ago, followed by a scented candle with Nest Fragrances in 2012, leaving the growing number of Wu acolytes the world over to wonder when MObama’s favorite American designer would extend his reach into cosmetics. Wonder no more: Today Lancôme announced that it will partner with Wu on his first makeup range, due out in September. [Lancôme]

Rihanna went back to her red-bowl-cut roots last week—although she appears to have tired of it already. Riri’s latest hairstyle evolution is the classic side shave with extensions—an oldie but a goodie. [Coco Perez]

Looking for some quality beauty tips from the Fall shows in Copenhagen? MAC senior artist Elke W. has all the backstage details. Those two-toned lips at Vivienne Westwood? A layering effort of MAC Chromagraphic Pencils in Rich Purple, Process Magenta, or Burgundy and its Lipmix in Mid-Tone Nude, which was inspired by “plastic doll-like porn lips.” Fascinating. Speaking of the inauguration, Michelle Obama’s newly cut fringe was the talk of the festivities yesterday, but the style’s approval rating skyrocketed on Sunday, when the president himself weighed in. “To address the most significant event of the weekend, I love her bangs,” Obama said. [USA Today]

The fashion shows won’t be the only attraction for members of the fashion tribe en route to Paris for the Fall collections next month. MAC has announced the opening of a new Paris flagship, the first such store outside of the United States, which will open on February 20. [NYDN]

Spring’s Bangs Trend Gets Political

As fashion insiders continue to grapple over what Michelle Obama will wear to Monday’s inauguration (our money’s on one of these thirteen American design houses), MObama has made quick work of the speculation over how she’ll be wearing her hair. With the, er, inaugural tweet on her new Twitter account, @FLOTUS, Mrs. Obama revealed that she has gotten bangs; how very Spring 2013 of her! The forehead fringe—clip-on or real as it may be—suits the First Lady, don’t you think?

There is now a way to smell good from the inside out thanks to Deo Perfume Candy, rose-flavored confections that exude a sweet-smelling aroma through your skin when ingested—news we find both interesting and terrifying. [Huff Po]

Michelle Obama may have been last night’s big style star, sporting a wine-colored Michael Kors dress, a subtle smoky eye, and a glossy lip, but she got some stiff competition—not from Ann Romney, but from Missouri senator Claire McCaskill’s daughters, Maddie and Lily. Working milkmaid braids, raspberry lips, and some carefully drawn-on cat-eyes, the sisters gave the Democratic party another check in the win column. [Buzzfeed]
