A Lancôme Star Is Born; MAC’s Comic Relief; And More…


Lancôme’s latest must-have mascara launches in September but starting today, Sephora is offering a 72-hour preview of its Hypnôse Star, inspired by brand face Daria Werbowy…and Betty Boop. [Sephora]

MAC has become synonymous with behemoth collaborations. From Hello, Kitty and Wonder Woman to partnerships with Beth Ditto, Daphne Guinnes, and Ruffian, there’s nothing the makeup brand can’t turn into covetable, limited-edition cosmetics. Its latest trick? Archie. The comic strip’s Betty and Veronica characters will get their own color ranges early next year. [WWD]

When Taylor Swift first blew out her signature ringlets, the blogosphere was all a-gasp. But seeing the country phenom with straight hair is now something of a regular occurrence. “I decide based on what I’m doing on any given day,” Swift says of whether or not to go curly. “Lately, I’ve been doing my hair in a way that’s sort of a combination of the two, smooth on top with a loose curl at the bottom,” she explains, pointing out that her go-to hairstyle at the moment is “a ponytail with some kind of headband or scarf.” [Refinery 29]

Britney’s Subversive Endorsement Deal; Nicki’s Pastel Makeover; and More…


If you noticed a few heavy-handed product placements in Britney Spears’ “Hold It Against Me” video, that was intentional. The pop star apparently took in close to half a million dollars in endorsement money to spritz herself with a bottle of Radiance, her own perfume, apply Make Up For Ever’s cream eye shadow, and tout a number of other consumer-friendly items while gyrating in front of the camera. Nicki Minaj has finally parted ways with the brightly streaked wigs that have become her signature of late. Instead, the R&B superstar has diverted her penchant for a crazy color palette to her makeup for the new issue of Blackbook magazine, in which she sports bright fuchsia lipstick and mega turquoise eye shadow. We shared exclusive, John Galliano-drawn storyboards of Natalie Portman’s Sofia Coppola-directed Miss Dior Cherie commercial, and now the eagle has finally landed. Our favorite shot? On February 21, the French house will finally air the commercial portion of the actress’ ad campaign for Miss Dior Cherie and we’ve got exclusive, Galliano-drawn story boards to get you amped up for the big day. Portman portrays a woman deeply love with her male co-star, Alden Ehrenreich, in the Nouveau Vague-esque ad, and, of course, she wears a Galliano-designed dress.
