As I try to nurture whatever tan I have left after a beach vacation that sadly ended two weeks ago, I’ve entered a phase of body care that I like to refer to as the oil zone. This special time of year typically commences in June when my skin is exposed to sunshine again, but seeing as how I expedited the process with an early Spring getaway, I’ve already bid adieu to my heavy winter moisturizers and embraced lighter, yet deeply penetrating oils that impart a slight sheen without a greasy residue (the better to showcase my fading bronze, of course). Now that I’ve really gotten into the ritual, I’ve discovered two new products that are worth slathering on:
With its square bottle and golden elixir, Lierac’s Huile Sensorielle Aux 3 Fleurs reminds me of an old favorite from Caron, which is what compelled me to pick it up on a recent trip to Duane Reade. Equipped with jasmine, camellia, and gardenia essential oils that have been mixed with nourishing argan, hazelnut, sweet almond, and grapeseed varieties, it’s incredibly emollient and aromatically pleasing, too, boasting a subtle, floral scent. Because the consistency isn’t too liquid-y, it also serves as a great hair conditioner to treat dry ends—an added bonus.
For evening, I’m all about Tom Ford’s just launched Neroli Portofino Body Oil, part of a brand extension of the designer’s original Eau de Parfum of the same name. Warm citrus notes burst out of this silky Champagne-hued oil when it’s rubbed on, leaving behind a soft supple finish and a delicate, enduring fragrance. It’s hard not to enjoy pouring this potion out of its cubist teal bottle. One whiff, apparently, and some are even ready to strip down to nothing and have an oil fight.
