Take Root

Celebs—whether their style is outrageous or tame—seem to be taking a cue from Marc Jacobs‘ choppy Spring 2014 wigs and intentionally exposing their roots. Style.com’s platinum blonde social media editor, Rachel Walgrove, who is currently showing off her “dark side,” has affectionately dubbed this look “saving money.” And apparently the phrase “Stars—they’re just like us” rings true (at least when it comes to color touch-ups). Both Nicki Minaj and Dianna Agron showed up on red carpets last night baring the hue they were born with. Perhaps the dying ombré trend is taking higher ground.

Following lawsuits aplenty claiming that Kim, Khloé, and Kourtney Kardashian’s makeup range, Khroma Beauty, infringed on the copyright for Kroma Makeup, which is held by a Florida-based company, a U.S. District Court for the Central District of California has issued a preliminary injunction blocking the reality stars’ beauty venture—for now. Bobbi Brown is a big proponent of always focusing on “your beauty in the moment,” which is how she often advises clients over fifty. “Never compare to the way you used to look,” she recommends—with two exceptions: “Whiten your teeth, because yellow ones look unhealthy. Get gloss treatments to keep hair shiny and lustrous.” [AARP]

Between recording, judging American Idol, and making personal appearances, Nicki Minaj still managed to find time to…design a line of couture clothing for her Pink Friday fragrance collection, available exclusively at Selfridges. [NYDN]

Miss New York, Brooklyn-based Mallory Hagan, has been crowned Miss America, the first time that the Empire State has taken top honors in the storied pageant since Vanessa Williams won the crown nearly thirty years ago. Nicki Minaj’s longtime hairstylist, Terrence Davidson, has parted ways with the American Idol judge, citing “creative differences.” And so the rush on candy-colored beehives will finally subside. [IBT]

Rachel Weisz’s pale berry lip and side-parted waves may have been our favorite red-carpet beauty moment from last night’s Golden Globes. As for her insane porcelain skin, it was helped along by facialist Joanna Vargas’ signature VitaLight treatment and her instantly sculpting Triple Crown Facial, which Weisz insisted upon as preshow prep. We’ll have what she’s having. [Joanna Vargas]

Julianne Moore Speaks Out On Aging Gracefully; Butter London X Goop; And More…

Julianne Moore was only just named the new face of L’Oreal’s antiaging Cellular Renaissance line, and she’s already doling out the beauty wisdom. “I think it’s a privilege to age,” says the 51-year-old flame-haired actress. “Often as adult women, you hear people say that they wish they were younger—to which I say, enjoy where you are. Because by wishing that you are younger, you really only end up missing the year in which you’re living. So enjoy that year and every year that you have as long as you’re able.” [WWD]

Butter London has teamed up with Goop to offer a limited-edition three-pack of custom-blended polishes to loyal readers of Gwyneth Paltrow’s ever-growing lifestyle website. Get while the getting’s good. [Goop]

Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday fragrance has finally arrived—as has its elaborate commercial, which features a black-clad Minaj laying on a bed of black roses, which turn a shade of bright fuchsia after she pricks her finger on a thorn and bleeds bubblegum pink all over the set. Oh, she also puts in a pair of hot pink contact lenses at the end, you know, to hammer home the point. [MTV]

Clinique has partnered with model Petra Nemcova’s Happy Hearts Fund and will start raising funds for the foundation dedicated to rebuilding schools in disaster-stricken areas through profits earned from its Happy Heart women’s fragrance and a series of limited-edition “Make Someone Happy” T-shirts.
