Penélope Cruz Flips Out

-------

There are many things to admire about Penélope Cruz. There’s her face-making nose, those fantastic eyebrows, that slammin’ body—and of course, her unreal Oscar award-winning acting ability. She outshined every other A-lister in Nine, in our humble opinion. But back to beauty. We’ve also become big fans of the eighties-era side flip she’s been sporting of late; it reminds us of some of our favorite movies from the decade—like Can’t Buy Me Love, starring a pre-McDreamy Patrick Dempsey. The look involves some mousse at the roots (try Redken’s new Aerate bodifying cream), a good blow-out, and some adventurous finger combing. It makes for some real girl-next-door glamour, don’t you think?

Marion Cotillard Gets Loopy

-------

The pre-Golden Globes events circuit kicked into high gear this past weekend with a Dior-sponsored cocktail party for brand spokesperson Marion Cotillard at the Chateau Marmont in L.A. The Nine actress wore Dior, of course, and a head full of curls. Her frizzy spirals made us think of flapper-era heroines like Clara Bow and Theda Bara, although Cotillard’s full brows and subtle eyeliner made this adaptation distinctly more modern. It’s definitely a departure from the French screen star’s signature sleek coifs. If there’s one thing you can say about her, she’s sure got range. Thoughts on the look?

Kate Hudson Goes Against The Grain

-------

Kate Hudson may be upping her Hollywood glamour cred by singing and dancing alongside Nicole Kidman and Penélope Cruz in her new movie, Nine—a huge departure from the string of rom-coms she’s devoted much of her time to since winning that Golden Globe for Almost Famous—but she’s bringing a touch of her laid-back, SoCal cool with her on the press junket. At the film’s world premiere in London last night, she sported a loose side braid across her forehead to complement a white strapless gown with a long bridal-style train. It’s not your typical red-carpet hairstyle, but then again, she’s not your typical red-carpet actress. Thoughts on the look?
