OPI, In Tip-Top Shape

With the continual rise of nail art and out-there polish colors, pretty much every brand on the planet is rushing to capitalize on the momentum. Those of you who follow our Instagram (it’s @styledotcomcelia, should you not already be in the know) got a preview of two such efforts this week from MAC and Estée Lauder, both of whom are expanding their permanent lacquer ranges and introducing limited-edition colors and prints. Somehow, though, OPI—an in-salon color pioneer—has yet to jump on board. While the brand continues to release trendy colors in cream, metallic, and glitter finishes, it has been without the kind of instant overlays that have made heroes out of lines like Sally Hansen and Nail Rock. But that changes this month as the mega mani giant debuts its new Pure Lacquer Nail Apps, 14 different nail strips made from 100 percent varnish that can be stretched and cut to fit both fingers and toes. They’re easily wiped away with plain old remover, too, so you don’t have to bother with all the picking and peeling when you’re ready to switch things up. Another interesting factoid: Each individual pack comes with 16 appliqués so there’s plenty of room for error if, like us, it’s rare that you can get these things right on the first try.

$11.95, available May 2012 at Ulta locations.
