There was a mash-up of the beauty variety last night at The Box in London. Rita Ora’s look was reminiscent of the soft “Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver” curls that Guido Palau created at Bottega Veneta’s Fall 2013 show and the sculptural, frizzy wigs Luigi Murenu coiffed for Rick Owens’ Spring 2013 collection. Two heads, as they say, are better than one.
Celebs are breaking out the burgundy en masse (à la Helmut Lang Spring 2014). Whether you choose to coordinate it with what you’re wearing (like Kat Dennings and Taylor Swift) or completely contrast a white gown (illustrated by Rita Ora), riding this color wave will put you right on trend.
With winter apparel being unearthed en masse this past weekend, I can’t think of a better way to make the long, dark days ahead a bit less depressing than with a swipe of bright lipstick à la Rita Ora. While most of us will likely be wearing a scarf in lieu of a ruffled dickey, matching your mouth to an accessory—in this case, Ora’s paper poppy broach (worn in the U.K. to commemorate fallen soldiers and support current military efforts)—is a look worth trying. Another beauty cue to take from the British pop tart: Keep the finish matte and the color major.

Despite opinions to the contrary, there are reportedly preventative advantages of “pre-toxing,” or getting Botox injections when you’re young—before wrinkles actually form. And the idea is gaining steam. Of the 6.1 million Botox injections that were performed last year, almost 100,000 were for patients in their twenties. [ABC News]
Botox or no Botox, Madonna is a study in how to maintain a youthful appearance, whatever your age. How does she do it? The likelihood is we’ll never know. But there is one product the queen of pop is willing to big up: “There’s this new line of products called Éminence, made with natural ingredients, and that’s what I’m using right now,” she recently revealed. Talk about some good free press. [Hollywood Life]
