The Future of Perfume Ads Is Here; R-Patts: Hot But “Needs To Go Tanning”; And More…

It’s summer and sun-phobia is at a high, which means self-tanner—celebrity-branded and otherwise—is a hot topic. While there hasn’t been much innovation in the field, ingredient-wise (all of those natural-formula claims are typically just hype), there is a whole new crop of sprays, mousses, creams, and gels hitting the market to turn you that coveted shade of orange-brown. So mind the streakage and remember that gradual color is the way to go. [NYT]

The Teen Tan Ban Comes to New York, And More…

First came the tan tax, and now New York could adopt a “Teen Tan Ban” if a new law passes the state legislature. You can add Miranda Kerr to team beauty-plus-influence, as well. In addition to her Victoria’s Secret obligations and the launch of her new natural skincare line, the Aussie model has apparently penned a book about body image called Treasure Yourself. No word yet on whether writing prowess and admirable syntax also factor into the equation. [Huff Po]
