Lena Dunham Does Twiggy; Rose McGowan Lightens Up; And More…

After debuting her brand-new, Miley Cyrus-inspired pixie cut in the winter issue of i-D magazine, Lena Dunham has undergone another makeover for her Entertainment Weekly cover turn. The sixties homage takes a page out of the Spring 2013 Marc Jacobs handbook, with lots of lashes and a black banana liner as well as mod, black and white nails by Marc-approved manicurist Elisa Ferri. The first Walgreens flagship has arrived on the West Coast, and it is not messing around. In addition to a fully equipped Look Boutique—the drugstore’s upmarket niche showcase that stocks brands like Cargo, Roger & Gallet, Nuxe Paris, Vichy, and Boots No. 7—there are a frozen yogurt station, fresh sushi bar, coffee and espresso bar, and juice and smoothie bar. In a further testament to the equal-opportunity nature of nail art comes Midrash Manicures, a twentysomething rabbi’s teaching tool-turned-commercial success story. Heads up to those of you looking for early Hanukkah gifts. [Fashionista]

Rose And Evan Do Lunch

Afternoon events are tricky; cocktail-hour smoky eyes and bold lip colors can look garish in broad daylight. The issue is how to look chic without appearing overdone. At the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s annual installation luncheon yesterday, Rose McGowan and Evan Rachel Wood delivered on both counts, offering up sweet and sultry daytime options, respectively. For her part, McGowan chose to accessorize a flirty pink blush-and-gloss combo with a casual headband, while Wood went sophisticated with a mauve shadow, sheer dusty rose lipstick, and a soft French twist. Two very good options for future duplication. Which do you prefer?

Rose McGowan Joins The Fuchsia Brigade

Their reported spring takeover has been discussed since last fall, but fuchsia lip colors are just now starting to dominate the red carpet. Rose McGowan is the latest celeb to sport a hot pink pout, although her look at last night’s premiere of Valentino: The Last Emperor in L.A. was more of a sheer, glossy version than the opaque incarnations already making the rounds—very YSL Gloss Pur #5. Do you think she’s pulling off the trend?
