Liv To Take The Mic; Neither Rain Nor Snow Will Keep Beyoncé Away From The Nail Salon; And More…

Liv Tyler: actress, beauty spokesperson—singer? The rock progeny and Givenchy Irresistible face will reportedly lend her pipes to an original song for her next installment of fragrance ads that’s being called “an electrifying meeting between the world of rock and the universe of perfume.” [Contact Music]

Shakira, the long-haired, Latin American singing sensation, has chopped off her signature strands in favor of an angled bob. That should make for some less impactful head-banging at her next live show; luckily, those hips still don’t lie. [People]

Beyoncé may be heavily pregnant, but that hasn’t stopped the pop superstar from maintaining her manicure. Mrs. Jay-Z stepped out in the pouring rain last night in New York to get a set of pointed, metallic blue gels at Sakura in the East Village. [Huff Po]

Shakira, Dream Weaver

The beauty look backstage at Valentino for Spring was one of our hands-down favorites of the season. The soft pastel makeup and the hair—the hair! —were enough to inspire many countless hours of attempting to re-create Pat McGrath’s soft gray and pink lids and Guido Palau’s coronet of braids in the privacy of our own home. Palau’s handiwork involved intricately weaving two intertwining braids, a procedure we recognized almost immediately when we spotted Shakira on the red carpet at the Latin Recording Academy Person Of The Year awards in her honor. But rather than take the style all the way around her hairline, the “She Wolf” singer wrapped one braid halfway around her head and created another on the other side, ultimately joining the two into a single, side-slung plait. Thoughts on her adaptation of the look?

Shakira Shaves It All Off (Kind Of)

As the story goes with most awards shows, last night’s American Music Awards brought out stars big and small, in fashion and beauty looks good and bad. Shakira landed on the “questionable” end of the continuum, choosing to simulate this year’s popular side-shave with cornrows, so as not to permanently mess with her signature mane. It was a clever way to get the edginess without the hairlessness, but something of a cop-out, if you ask us. What do you think?

It’s Shakira’s Party And She’ll Wear Dreads If She Wants To

Known as much for her thick blond mane as those hips that don’t lie, Shakira sported makeshift dreadlocks to her Rolling Stone cover celebration last night, which doubled as a launch party for her new album She Wolf. Do you prefer the mattified, twisted strands or a sleeker Shakira?
