Shocking!, 2.0?; Beyoncé Talks Beauty Essentials; And More…

-------

Elsa Schiaparelli will share the spotlight with Miuccia Prada at this year’s Met Costume Institute exhibit, which opens this Thursday, and now comes word that the design legend’s brand will reportedly be resurrected as early as this fall—with a focus on beauty! Diego Della Valle, the chief executive of Tod’s, bought the rights to the Schiaparelli house five years ago and plans to revive it not so much with clothes but original accessories and a reboot of the designer’s original fragrance hits, including 1936′s Shocking!, a reference to her signature bright pink. People magazine is releasing its intimate interview with 2012′s “most beautiful woman in the world,” Beyoncé Knowles, piecemeal, but it’s only marginally irritating because every new tidbit is better than the last. Today’s scoop: Beyoncé never leaves the house without makeup because every day in her life is a part of her history, she says. “I’ve worked really hard on my career and my life. So I make sure I wouldn’t be upset if somebody saw me.” That means L’Oréal lip gloss, blush, moisturizer, and old mascara are daily essentials. “I prefer old mascara. It makes your lashes thicker and longer.” [People]

The Washington Post has decided to rain on the never-ending nail polish parade that has been marching full steam ahead for the past year with a host of warnings about potentially negative side effects that can stem from regular mani/pedis. Formaldehyde and acetone allergies, UV light skin damage, and bacterial or fungal infections are just some of the things you should keep in mind while indulging in summer’s latest polish trends. There’s trouble in perfume paradise. Australian artist RJ Williams is suing Madonna over copyright infringement, alleging that the insignia on the Material Girl’s new fragrance bottle, Truth or Dare, is a ripoff of his own handiwork. [Toronto Sun]
