Lupita Nyong’o Brings Back the Pouf

Marie Claire's Fresh Faces PartyJanelle Monáe rocked it. Snooki ruined it. And Lupita Nyong’o breathed new life into the bump at Marie Claire’s Fresh Faces party in West Hollywood last night. Paired with an ultrafeminine Giambattista Valli Fall 2013 Couture dress, the edgy, mohawk-esque pompadour lent her look some sophisticated edge. We love a little vertical volume—and as many a country star has made clear, the higher the hair, the closer to heaven.

The Girl With (Chanel) Flowers In Her Hair; Voting Finger Flair; And More…

Rose Byrne has taken Spring’s forthcoming hair accessories movement to new heights with the gorgeous, Chanel camellia bouquet-cum-barrette that she wore to Australia’s Melbourne Cup. [Glamour]

In other Chanel beauty news, despite Brad Pitt’s memorable solo performance in the brand’s latest wave of ads for its iconic No. 5 fragrance, the E.U.’s Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety is bent on taking the classic flacon down a peg. The use of tree moss and oak moss, which provides the eau with its signature, woodsy aroma, is at risk of being outlawed as it has wound up on a list of 100 possible allergens that are potentially harmful to consumers. Snooki debuts her second fragrance this week—as well as her first entry into the nail category. That’s right, ladies. Even Snooki has launched a line of lacquers as the great nail boom of the late aughts continues. [Wetpaint]

Looking for a more palatable dose of daily nail info? Try these patriotic manicures on for size. Pressing the “cast your vote” button today is that much more of a patriotic gesture if your tips are painted with some variation of the stars and stripes. [NYDN]

Elisa For Cavalli; Zoe For Costco; And More…

Roberto Cavalli is launching his first fragrance after signing a new licensing deal with Coty, and the face of said fragrance will be—wait for it—Elisa Sednaoui. “She is the woman every woman would like to be, so she is the real Cavalli woman,” the Italian designer says of the model and actress. [Vogue.U.K.]

In other brand ambassador news, former Leonardo DiCaprio flame Bar Refaeli is the new face of Escada’s latest fragrance, Especially Escada. Aside from the sparkling rose, ylang-ylang, and amberette seed eau, the Israeli model also swears by Ahava hand cream, Clinique tinted lip balms, and dessert. “Don’t not eat dessert ever; have it when you’re craving it, but then eat healthy.” [Stylelist]

Not to be outdone, Snooki Polizzi of Jersey Shore is also getting into the fragrance game with her eponymous scent that smells of “pink cupcakes” and will make its debut on HSN on November 10—in a pink leopard-print bottle, of course. [USA Today]

What’s the secret to Zoe Saldana’s insane complexion? Costco, apparently. The stunning actress, who uses Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer regularly, says that her biggest beauty tip is exfoliating on the cheap. “[For] my go-to tool, I use a small white towel to wash my face. I buy them in bulk every time I go to Costco.” [Allure]

A Fragrance For Nicole; Limbal Rings, A Defintion; And More…

It was really only a matter of time. Today comes the announcement that Nicole Richie is entering the beauty market with a signature scent all her own. Due out next year, the perfume is being billed as cool and classy, “with an edge.” [WWD]

In other things we could have predicted, Jersey Shore‘s Snooki has just launched a new collection of indoor tanning products. [Us]

A new study suggests an unlikely feature is the key to determining physical attractiveness in someone else: the eye’s limbal ring. Apparently, in the 20 milliseconds it takes to assess a person’s attractiveness, we’re factoring in the size and shade of the circle around the iris that separates it from the whites of the eyes. The bigger and darker the limbal ring, the more attractive the person appears. [HuffPo]

For the record, President Obama does not dye his hair—nor is the excess of salt in his pepper strands the result of job stress. “My grandfather was gray by the time he was 29,” Obama insists. “So I figured it was going to come. It just happened to coincide with the presidency.” [L.A. Times]

The fact that Lindsay Lohan is getting a one-way ticket back to jail is top o’ the twitter feeds today. And coming in a close second? Her courtroom bronzer abuse. [TMZ]

Dakota Goes Short (Kind Of), Snooki Goes Streaking, And More…

If you’re still marveling over those provocative Dakota Fanning-fronted ads for Marc Jacobs’ Oh, Lola!, get a load of this behind-the-scenes video from the shoot. [People]

Speaking of Fanning, the blond child star-turned-surprisingly well-adjusted adult star has been spotted sporting a pixie cut around the set of her new film, Now Is Good. But Fanning has not in fact pulled an Emma Watson; the new crop is just a really realistic wig. [Daily Mail[

In a move to shed her association with bad tanning habits, Jersey Shore‘s Snooki has taken up a different beauty trend: dip-dyed colored streaks. (She’ll always be all orange glow to us.) [Fashionista]

First a starring role in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, now a starring role in a new Burberry ad. Rosie Huntington-Whitley is the new face of the Brit brand’s forthcoming Burberry Body fragrance. [WWD]
