Despite the gloomy conditions that have settled over New York City today (and for the rest of the week, if Weather.com is to be believed), spring is in full swing and summer will begin when the holiday weekend commences on Friday. Which means a few things to our immediate life: We have started to beef up our sunscreen collection with tried-and-true as well as brand-new UV-blocking offerings (more on that in a bit); we have gotten serious about our hunt for a new bikini; and, like clockwork, a new, limited-edition, summer-inspired bottle of Stella McCartney’s classic rose-scented eau just crossed our desk. But Stella fans the world over will notice something different about this year’s fresh, airier edition: Rather than add to her collection of Stella Sheer perfumes, which typically debut this time of year, McCartney has unveiled Stella Summer Rose instead. Much like its seasonal predecessor, the latest flacon is inspired by sun-kissed bare skin—and the quintessential floral essence that informs all of her fragrances. This time around, however, the designer specifically wanted to capture the “beauty and fragility of the most beautiful flower just before it begins to wilt”—roses toward the end of their bloom, when their scent is at its most pungent. To keep the resulting eau from becoming too heady, effervescent notes of frosted lemon, green apple, and peony have been infused into the mix to create a sense of lightness and warmth. Needless to say, it’s a must for Stella collectors—not least because of its vintage-inspired printed bottle.
