My last day in Paris is typically spent in a mad dash to get to all of the places I haven’t had time to visit due to a packed show schedule. This season, that meant brunch at Claus, a quick jaunt to the Marais for one last vintage run, and one more trip to Colette. On a tip from a friend, I learned fairly late in the game that Colette stocks Sylvain Le Hen’s increasingly popular hair clips. I’ve heard murmurs about them for about a year now, but it took a recent recommendation from Vena Cava’s Sophie Buhai to really compel me to action. “It’s like wearing a Richard Serra in your bun,” the designer said of the sculptural clips that come in an array of colors and two different designs: 021, a long barrette in three different degrees of thickness, and 047, a cuff that conforms to the width of a ponytail. I’m partial to the thinnest 021 style, in classic gold-plated metal, which also features two micro-screws mounted by hand. It’s the perfect understated addition to any upscale attire, and also happens to add an instant dose of class to even your most casual clothes, including the buffalo-plaid look I’ve resorted to for my trip to Charles de Gaulle today. (It’s been a long month.) The covetable accessories are available at Creatures of Comfort in New York.
