Another chilly rainy morning [in Cannes]. Burr!

Early pedi with L’Oréal Paris spokeswoman Doutzen Kroes to start the day using her signature color, Doutzen, from the Prive Collection. Always smiling no matter the weather, [Doutzen] is beautiful from the inside out. Nails and makeup done, now she’s off to hair.

Cannes-Day-3_2Next, a few interviews and a workshop for editors where they learned all about L’Oréal Paris’ newest nail innovations, then back to glam for the red carpet. “So excited to be heading back to Cannes with L’Oréal Paris for my second year! LAX to Paris via flight 65, then a quick hop over to Nice where we took a little drive down to Cannes to set up shop at the historic Hotel Martinez. Just your average 20-hour travel day! When I arrived the weather was amazing, so I decided to take a walk down the famous Le Croissant, er, La Croisette, to the Palais des Festivals theater and the famous red carpet. The city is fairly quiet, with most of the hustle being construction and preparation for the festival. Then some room service: a chicken Caesar salad and my favorite of French foods, French fries! These next two weeks will be crazy: prepping the spokespeople for daily appearances and evening red carpets, doing shooting tutorials, doing international interviews and workshops, and, hey, just because we can, throwing in a weeklong photo shoot! Here I am with the incredibly chic Inès de la Fressange during our shoot. Why? Because I’m worth it!”

Victoria, The Vamp

-------

Word is spreading around the blogosphere about Victoria Beckham’s new cover story for the May issue of Vogue Germany. The conversation mostly surrounds a rather racy image of VB straddling a duck-shaped playground figurine. We, of course, are more concerned with a few particularly noteworthy beauty tricks, courtesy of face painter Fulvia Farolfi and manicurist-to-the-stars Tom Bachik. To properly give Posh the dark, seductive quality appropriate for women who scandalize children’s toys, Farolfi went with a squared-off, filled-in black brow, and a smudged onyx liner that she applied close to Beckham’s lash line and pulled out to a flick on the outside corners of her eyes. Heavy helpings of mascara finished off that come-hither stare. Farolfi also administered a bronzed, sculpted cheek that she extended across Beckham’s nose for a sun-kissed glow that offset the potential for any goth implications. As for Bachik and Beckham’s nails, it had to be a creamy black lacquer, but not just any creamy black lacquer—MAC’s blacker-than-black Nocturnelle, which he applied with a few extra layers of top coat for a high-gloss shine. We’re kind of loving everything they’re doing. You?
